20/01/11: Kite Flying​

Decided to post early so that I can sleep earlier. I was pretty amazed by this "wheel" thing this uncle used for kite flying. It's nice to have nothing much to do and go fly kite (not another meaning -_-) during a breezy evening at seaside.

Extremely busy for next few days...might have to do "make up" photo shoot sessions.

Haha..thanks. Yup...I used PS layers (1 colour and 1 B & W) and do some painting...

21/01/11: Sunset @ West Coast Park​

The past few evenings had been cloudy and rainy so it wasn't easy to view a decent sunset (at least in the west). Luckily one of the evenings I managed to view part of the sun as it sets into the horizon.

23/01/11: Birds​

Went to Chinese Garden yesterday and was lucky to get close to this bird looking for its dinner.

Cannot rem the aperture, one is f8 one is f5.6.
Used the old EF 300 F4 (non is) lens + kenko 1.4 DG

24/01/11: Parachute jumping​

Decided to upload this early so that I can go sleep.

Taken using my mobile phone (I didn't carry my camera with me).

I went to Woodlands to fly kite and saw this group of people parachuting down a small slope. Quite interesting to see this activity for the first time in a neighbourhood area.

Thanks for your kind comments, it was a lucky shot in a sense that I quickly took this shot before the uncle turn around and look at me haha. I am quite 'shy' when it comes to this type of candid shots.

25/01/11: Boat​

I know nothing about HDR at the moment, just learning through trial & error at initial stages. A picture of a boat taken at West Coast Park and sort of 'exaggerate' the settings to make it look like a painting.

Whose Trolley is this?​

Found this trolley all by itself in the middle of an empty path. Nothing spectacular but somehow it just caught my attention when it's placed beside the railing.

26/01/11: Chinatown 1: Happy Ah Gong performing​

Chinatown 2: Crowd​

I shot this because I don't know what to shoot during my first trip down. It seems like Chinatown nowadays is losing its festive feeling compared to years ago. Stores that sell cheap cookies and deco are slowly disappearing.

Chinatown 3: Lucky Grass Dolls​

This is something new to me this year. Apparently the seeds are in the bags (dolls) and you are supposed to soak it in water for a period of time before the grass (fur) starts to grow.

27/01/11: Sunset @ Chinese Garden​

It was one of the sunset that has no rain, and I took a pano shot of the scene before the sun disappeared behind the buildings. As it was still bright so the sky looked washed out.

Did a HDR setting to bring out the exposure for the trees but tried to keep the photo look realistic.

Finally decide to accompany my gf to make a new pair of specs before CNY and just collected it yesterday, so quickly took a photo of it before the new day arrives.

28/01/11: A pair of trees @ sunset​

Decided to post early again, saw this scene at sunset. So I have decided to use HDR to bring out the colours of the trees and tweaked the settings a little to make it look like a painting.

Wanted to shoot sunset but the sky was grey and cloudy. So I went birding instead. Only average shots, and I am feeling the limitation of what my 300mm + 1.4x can do and felt that the tele-convertor quality is failing on me. But again, investing in a good super telephoto lens is really spending a big bomb....sigh...
