vandrew said:Just went to Alan Photo in SLS this afternoon. Previously bought a 1GB Lexar 40X WA CF card at S$380 and intended to get another piece or a 2GB. The guy who served me was very rude. I told him I bought it at S$380 just 1 month ago and he said its impossible to give me the same price cos its below cost. I didn't believe it as I got the receipt to prove it. Then I asked him the price for the 2GB and said there is no stock rudely and told me to find it myself in the cupboard to check.
Very poor CS. I just walked out of the shop and went to East Gear to get it. AP is added to my blacklist of shops now and will never ever buy or recommend my overseas colleagues again to this shop. It has just become another shop like the others in SLS. :thumbsd:

Typical Singaporean mindset.. always want CHEAP and the BEST...
Darren said:Hi members,
As in any retail environment, some people may experience great or exemplary service, while others may experience the complete opposite and I suspect most of us probably experience average service (maybe slightly above, maybe slightly below ... but still acceptable without any complaints).
The variables involved are many and I cite a few examples :-
1. Shop is crowded / peak period = likely you will receive less than full top-to-toe service
2. Salesperson just closed big deal 15 mins before you walked in = very happy to serve you
3. Haven't had lunch yet = may be a bit grouchy/impatient to see you off so that he/she can eat
4. Boss just gave payrise/angpow = very happy to serve you
The attitude of the customer is also important - striding in expecting people to serve you hand and foot will not get you anywhere (unless you are the Sultan of ____ insert country here).
Needless to say, both customer and retailer needs to play their part.

kingkangkong said:its not a question of price. We arnt bitching about them ripping us off.
its about the service attitude. or rather the lack of good attitude.
someone mentioned its a customer and retailer relationship.
I totally agree.
I was IMPECCABLY polite. They were curt and rude.
Perhaps, they just dont like queen's english.
or they just dont like students.
Personally, AP prices are about the same as everyother shop in SLS.
thats a very sweeping statement that you have made.
there are people who pay good money for good service.
At least, imho, the newer and younger generation(me) are doing that right now.
20 bucks difference. Between AP and another shop.
I would rather pay 20 bucks extra so that I can go back and have same level of service and will not be intimidated to ask questions when I have too. Not to mention being able to build a friendly environment to shop in.
Of course there will be customers who experience good service at AP, but it does not serve as a consolation or something for those of us who didnt get the good service. If anything, it just proves even further that they 'choose' their customers which personally, I think is VERY STUPID.
I personally wont go back to AP. Song brothers offered much friendiler service.
