The Kenko teleconverter can work with AFD 85mm f/1.4
Hope the auto focus is still compatible with AFS 85mm f/1.4G

Anyone has tried yet ?

Ok. Did anyone tried AF test? I know this sounds stupid, I did a focus test and do some micro adjustment on the camera. It works fine. When i went for photoshoot, I put on cokin ND8 filter. Guess what happened, it front focused! I took it out, it focused fine. My Friend x2 confirmed about that too. But of coz, we are testing on a printed piece of paper, shooting side way, hand held the camera.

Which photoshoot did you attend ?

Not sure that it's front/back focus, previously I shot AF-D 85mm f/1.4 with ND8, handheld the camera, and I feel it's not as sharp as it used to be in 100% crop. Regarding this issue, I just think that this filter might be designed for landscape photographer, which shoot from f8 to f16.

aperture?
wrong AF point?

Which brand of ND filter?

It,s the one i had in collaboration with local make up skool. I'm from Sarawak btw. :) I guess you are right. Its gonna be pain to shot at f/1.4 outdoor.

out of topic: Here's d compilation of photos i made. http://www.facebook.com/video/?of=648303300#!/video/video.php?v=428910548300&subj=648303300

I'm using Cokin ND filter. P-series. At 1st I thought the wordings it was wrong AF, but the wordings are pretty big, me and my fren shot it a couple of time with and without filters to x2 confirm it.

I was using Hoya ND8 filter, shooting with AF-D 85mm f/1.4 at aperture f/1.8.
In 100% crop could see the difference as I feel most of the pictures I took without ND8 is sharper.

 Thank you for sharing. All are taken with AFS 85mm f/1.4G ? Really poisonous ! :D

Thanks Jeff. Closed up are using 85mm, while d rest are using nikkor 16-35. :)

wouldn't putting a piece of glass in front of the lens degrades the quality abit ? Just like putting a filter... Thats why some dun use filter at all for optimal image output...

Did a comparision between the AFD and the new AFS 85mm in nikon showroom with a d3s. Confirm the AFD is much faster. The iq from both appears very similiar from the small body LCD.

The history has repeated again, as AFD 50mm f/1.4 also seems to focus faster than AFS 50mm f/1.4G.

Hope that the new AF-S 35mm f/1.4G auto-focus speed is on par with the f/2 (older lens).

What is Nikon doing this days. AF-S is slower than AF-D on the primes? Wake up Nikon prime lens engineers.

the torque on the D3 bodies are no joke.

Comparing the motors on the D3 with the D700 to drive AFD lenses, D3 tends to be more snappy. Especially when you try it with lenses that have larger elements.

That is why i compare the lens with the D3/ s bodies.. if it show a differences in AF speed the lower end models' differences will be much widen..
