Yes, I saw too. The one in the bridge picture is quite obvious.
With the premium price tag given, even the AF-S version can't handle the Ca well.

So, is this lens worthed to break your piggy bank ?
:dunno:

at the current asking price. maybe at 1.5 it will be a good buy.

i called up a few places like SLR and MS.
the old afd is still around 1.8K, not a huge diff compare to the new one.
well i dont think the price will go down any sooner.

looking at the flower photos i still likes the color rendering of the older AFD lens... all this is personal preferences..

- Some people like mute colour.

- Some people like warm colour.

Actually my concern is not about the colour (as I shoot in RAW), but the sharpness.
The sharpness of AF-S is so good.

same as the AFD, SHARP.

i will appreciate some updates of prices for the lens cos i want to include it into the 2010 nikon price list. thanks! :)

I've just gotten the lens @ $2100 inclusive of GST.

I'll share more pictures taken from this baby in awhile.

A quick review from my perspective.

This is my first 85mm f1.4. AF-S is not speedy...as this lens is not built for sports. For shooting portraits and street, it is good enough. I tried AF-S on my S5Pro, it is accurate in the AF. Color wise, I like the natural colour rendered on S5Pro, not too warm neither is it 'cool'.

CA, not totally gone. But it is a significant improvement over AFD (I am doing a comparison based on the 50mm f/1.4D, which I have.)

Solid build!

Bokeh, what can I say....

Last pointer, I think many of you may have miss the point on doing videography on DSLR, the AF-S is important in this aspect. As AF-D would gives out loud zipping sound which would be recorded into the video. So AFS is crucial.

Nice and sharp.. Makes me want to upgrade to the new lens..

I was offered S$2,130 at iPhoto. But I think lunas got a better price!

Tested this lens during nikon kopi session. Seems like the AF is accurate at long distance but only if the AF point is at the center. Anyone experienced this?
