Adobe/Apple Relationship Takes A Turn For The Worst

I hope the two companies can quickly kiss and make up and get on with the program already. We consumers need better products not politics.

"Apple is worried, especially on the iPad, (that) people would bypass the App Store," he said. "People could go to any Web site and play a game in Flash, or they could go to Facebook and play games mostly written in Flash. They're scared."

This statement is interesting.. and I believe, very true.

Yes, its all about control of content. Apple is control freak.

and then call it macfanboys :bsmilie:

Their business point of view i guess would be because they have to answer to the developers for the iTunes case. DRM all that come in to play. it's all about $$

I'm not clear on why Apple doesn't want to support Flash; suspect it's more because of the limitations of their phone rather than a direct onslaught into Adobe's territory.

It's not easy to create another CS Suite from scratch, even if one is Apple.

Actually, not limitations of the iPhone. I posted this on the iPad thread. Its because Apple can't charge money if the content is in flash & or Adobe is not willing to give the big chunk of the profit to apple. If u have followed how the music industry, they got screwed by the app store via itunes, u'll know what i mean, the cost for songs to app store is something like 23cts (IIRC) & Jobs sell them for 99cts, the major profit goes to apple. Music boys r not happy about it. So the ebook boys now r not willing to compromise much, ebook content will be costlier.

U r so gravely mistaken by the resources that apple has. Look at FCP suite & u talk about not easy to create from scratch. It comes with FCP 7, Motion4, LiveType, Sound Track Pro & DVD Studio. Juz FCP & Motion alone is already a big challenge to create but apple did it, they literally snatch an enormous share from Avid & Premiere Pro & After effects. Maybe Apple new graphic software is call iDoodle. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

Someone earlier on mentioned about the OSX being BSD variant its because of GPL strict control (General Public License). To my understanding, under GPL, it'll mean the software must be open sourced & free. Apple wudn't do that cos they want money, they r commercial entity not a charity party. Honestly i dun mind them charging money for OSX, & objectively speaking, OSX at default has more default apps going on compared to Windows. But when i look at the hardware pricing.... WHOAH!!! Its out of reality, i juz checked that if u buy a Mac Pro & opted for 2nd DVD burner, that 18x burner is costing u S$160, whereas a good brand 22x DVD Burner Pioneer is selling $52 in Sim Lim Sq. No brand like Asus & LG selling the same specs for $35. What's apple thinking?? Hard Disk is worse, 640GB default. If u want to upsize to 1TB, u topup S$160. Shudn't there be like a trade in for the 640GB? If i take default config & use S$160 to buy a 1TB drive in SLS, i get 2 drives in the Mac, not the single config that apple sells for extra money. Its really what they call "The Apple Tax":rolleyes:

That's the thing about Apple. It is relatively cheap to purchase the computer but to upgrade they will chop your head off. Same for the accessories... 80-100 bucks for a piece of plastic to cover your laptop? 60 bucks for a cheap clear piece of plastic for the iPhone!? Some people are still willing to pay OMG. I have a couple of friends who bought a clear plastic cover for the iphone and paid 60 bucks while i got mine a similar one for 29. I asked them why? They replied, cos its' made in Japan. Oh my no wonder Apple can thrive on milking people like that.

Apple's ace in the hole against content producers is the size of its market. To consumers, its the ease of use. It's a winning combination.

not only does Apple milks people of their moolah... but accessory makers are also cashing in on the Apple phenomena. like what you mentioned... $60 for a phone protector??? this is nuts!!! add another $10 and one can get a real carbon fibre cover for the iPhone.

as long as Apple still has followings among the people, these third party accessory makers will always have a cashing good time. it's so simple, everyone can make accessories for Apple products as similar products have standard design. for example, the MacBook keyboard. one keyboard protector can be used in different MacBooks of similar size.

this can't be done in Windows based notebooks. the keyboard layout is different from the different notebook manufacturer. hence, accessories for such are hard to come by.

cool.. where to buy the carbon fibre cover?.. ;p

i've seen it in Challenger, Multimedia Integrated (Funan) and some other shops selling Mac stuff. looks cool... but expensive lah. those cheapo/fake CF covers just don't come close in looks.

I believe that through these accessories, apple profits from their sales too. It's like the accessories producers definitely have to pay Apple to obtain the product dimensions. Other wise i see no reason why they would be priced so high.

Apple will one day rule the world, screw Microsoft!
Steve Jobs will have the world sprayed green, and he'll kick Santa Claus off the north pole and live in an apple-stem shaped house! :bsmilie:

never. most people are using Windows based Server. Linux, Free bsd, Unix ( hp ux, aix, sun) cant even catch up...it is like rabbit vs turtle.

if you are talking about mobile OS, then yes. apple might pwn Microsoft like microsoft pwned Palm OS.

damn, my 1st pda is TRGpro....and palm is rabbit here...too lazy, not innovative.....bye Palm, rest in peace....palm also lose in the race because they control, they control who can use their OS on their devices.
