Accident @ Choa Chu Kang Drive

I too agree that the right lane is for overtaking. Some drivers stay at the right lane when they reach the speed limit of the road and refuse to give way when blinked/horned at, which I think is also considered road hogging.

Based on the pictures, the passenger vehicle is turning right and the taxi hit it coming from the opposite direction. Impact must be very forceful as the passenger vehicle is about 30 meters from the Junction. You will notice the marking on the road and the impact/damaged on the passenger vehicle, it is on the left side. Do not know who is trying to beat the traffic light.

most right lane on the expressway is a overtaking lane. even if you are travelling at 160kph you still give way to a vehicle faster than you from behind. dun be like a typical singaporean that drive badly. by saying you have the right of way when you travel at 90kph max on the right most lane on the expressway make you sound damn stupid. no offense but its true. makes you sound damn stupid.

In practical situations, almost everyone is breaking the law from time to time. Sg max limit is 90. Now tell me, who have not driven above 90 before? The extreme right lane is for overtaking, not to hog on it at max speed limit of that road. Period.

That said, if there is no car behind, u can drive at 60 and nobody will care as long as u do not block this lane and give way when a faster vehicle comes along.

Sorry to TS for OT.

Even if there is deemed to be no car behind, keep left. If a bugger seeing no cars ahead speed at 120-130kph, he will catch up in no time. It may be too late for him to decelerate to 60kph by the time he spotted your car in the right lane.

Driving at 120kph in a 2.4l or larger car is like driving at 80kph of a 1.6l car, you don't feel the speed from inside. With so many luxury cars in Singapore, I would assume 120lph is pretty common.

Yap I agree. However, if that bugger is travelling at such breakneck speed without visibility to stop in time is asking for trouble. Drive fast and safe but not speed blind, especially negotiating a curve at high speed. For those die die want to stick to the speed limit, keep left.

wow. just outside my house junction. hope everyone's alright.

Whenever I walk back home lots of cars speeding during peak hours, hope this is a lesson to warn the speeding drivers.

I respectfully disagree with this argument. There is no reason why, on the right lane, you should give way to a vehicle faster than your own if you are driving at or above the speed limit.

At the most fundamental, the law states a driver cannot go over 90, regardless of whichever lane you are in. So, even if a driver is overtaking, he cannot go over 90. That means, if he comes at 170 from behind and even if I am doing 90 only, I don't have to assist him in breaking the law by giving him way, and by law, I am not road hogging, because I am going as fast as I can legally.

But let's talk real world: the right lane is for speeders. And all speeders are there on the right lane because it is the fastest, not because they are using the lane to overtake anybody. So where's the validity of "keep left unless overtaking"? If a driver keeps left because he sees a driver coming from behind at a faster pace, he's merely being gracious.

hi, i am not sure if you are driving or on public.
but your school of tot is the cause of many accident.
as the 1st lane is really meant for overtaking and going fast.

yes it is nv right to speed. but road hogging is even worst.
in the recent crime watch. u will see this blue car instead of giving way, juz keep going forward overtaking etc. he shld juz jolly well move left. let the fast car move.

Hmm..the car logo somehow looks more like a mazda leh...

:dunno:

Somehow, i feel that all these "road hogging" thing has something to do with ego at times.
As motorist, we have the responsibility to give way to faster cars for we know not why the driver sped so fast. It may be that he is rushing his kid to the hospital. We really don't know.
And no, I am not a speeder. :D I am a safe driver...that all.;)

While all the posers argue about who owns the right lane, or who can get to the right lane the fastest, some wise guy just blew by everyone on the road shoulder... kekeke.

BTW, I don't think the worst are road hogs - you can always treat them like pylons.

The worst are those who insist on getting to the right lane as fast as they can, never mind they just merged on the highway and are travelling below highway speed. Those fellas are far more dangerous. Moving pylons, what can I say...

Anyway, enjoy the challenge.:bsmilie:

you think that you are a good driver others might think that you are a bad driver .........end of the day just drive with care always give way you will reach your destination in 1 piece. enjoy life I LOVE MY FAMILY:D

I totally agree with the point that right lane is for overtaking. I have to give way to someone coming at 300km/hr even when I am at 250km/hr.. Some SG drivers bring this speed limit mentally overseas. I have seen plenty of SG drivers travelling at 120km/hr on NSHW right lane. No matter how u beam or tailgate them, they just refuse to give way..

One more thing to take note. By not giving way, you are forcing people to overtake from the left which is more dangerous than speeding imho..

Once I was driving along the NS highway on the right lane at about 140 kmph, and the whole stretch of road was empty except me, when a car came from behind, flicking its high beam at me...at first I thot of giving way to him, but then I thot ,wtf, he can overtake me on the left if he's so fxxking in a hurry...as he passed me on the left, I saw its a SG merc, and that was when I showed him the middle finger....:D

This is the problem loh. Cannot remember BTT already. :bsmilie:

Er~~ Bro, i know how it feels when people high beam you to give way.. But since there are no cars on your left and especially so when you are traveling on the NS highway where traveling at 160km/hr is the norm, we as foreigners better to keep to your left lane. Peace for you and others. Why because of "yi kou qi" then get into unnecessary trouble. Cheers~~

I respectfully disagree with this argument.

there is nothing to disagree or discuss here.......... its the Traffic Police rule...... if the guy is speeding, then THAT is a DIFFERENT offence if he gets caught ....

I think he should be as pissed as you ;p jus joking.. Thinking in his shoes, it might be quite irritating that he needs to brake (waste brake pads), close and re-open throttle (waste petrol) because you were blocking him.. And since he was closing in at you, I assume he should be no less than 150kph.

I would be dangerous for him to try and overtake you from the left cause you might know he's coming and want to give way to him, then "BANG". High beam you might be to let u know early he's coming so that he doesn't have to brake or close throttle.. I think flickering high beam is still better than horning..
