Accident @ Choa Chu Kang Drive

this is very true.. i ride a motorcycle... and sometimes, i have no idea why some drivers intentionally speed up when they see someone trying to filter into their lane.

and during slow traffic, is there a need to keep swerving from lane to lane? it doesn't improve the situation, and it makes the situation at the back even worse.

worse still, when i'm keeping a safe distance behind a car on the road, sometimes, come drivers to tailgate me only 1 metre away from my tail light. i find that needless, especially since i'm on a motorcycle. if i had to brake suddenly, i would be in deep kaka.. and of course that driver will be booked by the police..

just only yesterday, some huge trailer driver tailgated me, and just only on the way to work today some maniac mercedes driver tailgated me. almost hit me. then over took me then jammed the brakes slightly infront of me. grr. hate these drivers.

sorry to TS for OT... but when i see these kind of pictures i wonder why some drivers are so reckless..

Sorry to harp on this thread. Kei, I drive trucks & bike once in a while too.

Bikes have a very "small footprint" & drivers don't give a damn about us since they take it that we usually squeeze too, got to blame ourselves as well. Whatever it is, don't get into an accident even if you're in the right, we only have 4 limbs & a head to lose!

As for Truckdrivers, we have a lot of blindspots, anything within the 2m radius are usually vague, the braking distance is too long as their sheer weight will not stop in time but their attitude is to run over you in any case! Trust me, a few of my friends who drive trucks for a living told me that. That's why I always drive/ride past them fast.

small boy what argument you talking about? just got your licence is it? the way you drive confirm. you are just a road hogger and nothing to argue. the more you explain the more stupid you look. so pls go on and defend your dumb way of driving. without people like you, how can gracious drivers like us stand out. thank you.

now is your turn to explain and make yourself look stupid. else just keep your dumb idea to yourself.

Actually, I thot of leaving this thread as it is, given that alot of bros has different opinion of what I did was wrong - so be it - of course it's good to get different perspectives from other people, as in photography, that's where we learn and go on from there. I can accept bros here who slammed me for my driving, but none uses deplorable terms like you did.

Using terms like "stupid" , "dumb" etc when you do not even know me - I think that is abit too much. What gives you the moral right to say things like this? Are you saying you are a gracious driver just by putting up this post? For all I know, you may just be humping a bicycle.

so what type are you, bro...the goody-two-shoes type who bends over when someone asked you to....:bsmilie:

Firstly, there's no right or wrong in photography unlike driving. Don't try to mix these completely different topics together to try to confuse.

Secondly, if you can't take, don't give.

road hogging etc is bad but at least it doesn't endanger lives like speeding so i treat it as a lesser evil.

Road hogging is just as bad as speeding. A lot of accidents are caused by cars in front that suddenly slowed down by road hogs, leaving cars behind unable to react in time. There are also buggers who are driving fast on the right lane, then when their phones rings, they suddenly slowed down. This is also considered dangerous behaviour.

but people start talking about speeding at 160, 200km/h.

The speed we are talking about is outside the context of Singapore. I have to travel 200km to and fro work each day. If I have to drive at 90kmh, it will take me around 3 hours, including traffic and detours. So once I hit highway and straight roads, just have to speed it up. It does reduce my traveling time significantly to under 2 hours. Do note that I am in no way driving recklessly. In Singapore, there is no reasons to have to speed since you can usually get from pt A to B in under an hour. But still it does not mean one should insist on their right of road usage.

On a separate subject. A Japanese research found that even in slow moving traffic, if everyone keeps to their lane and moved forward keeping a distance between each car, without needing to brake , stop and go, the speed can be maintained at 40kmh and cars can get to their destination faster. But in Singapore, everybody tries to weave in and out, causing cars behind to have to brake, stop and go. All cars come to a standstill. It is proven that road conditions is caused by everyone on the road, one car that got out of place will influence the other road users. So the Jap are actually researching on smart cars that will communicate with each other and the road. I guess it is saying that human sucks at communicating with each other. :)

I am not, Mark. I did not said "right or wrong", just different perspectives as in different opinions. Secondly, I can take as graciously as you can give, but not some who said they are gracious, but uses "ungracious" remarks. If you want to go on and said I am being confusing again, its up to you, as I felt that I have said enough, and accepted different opinions from bros here. Great that we can air our opinions but do so graciously, please. Cheers:)

Lol...live and let live. Drive wisely and reach home safely to your loved ones. ;)

That being said, being gracious plays a big part being a responsible road user. If you noticed that a car wants to overtake you, do give way. If you want to be reckless, please think wisely and don't do it with other people's lives.

I try to give way if the car behind is faster than me. But sometimes, the expressways are quite full and fortunately, traffic smooth. I am travelling at right lane at 100km/h, maintaining a 'safe' distance of 2 car lengths from the car in front of me. Out of the blue, a car tailgates me, flashing its headlights. Try to filter left but there are more vehicles and travelling at 70km/h. When there is space, I signal left and I start to filter, the car overtakes on my left and squeeze between me and the car in front. Want to be gracious also difficult!

I have driven in Malaysia, US, Canada, Australia, NZ, South Africa but seriously, some SG drivers needs to cool down. Let's all be gracious and all of us will be fine.

After all, I just want to go home to my wife and kids!

Sorry to TS for the OT. Cheers to all and have a happy weekend! :)

Point taken Archie. Peace :)

Hmm...it still looks like a mazda logo..but the car body does look much like a terios or rush..

:dunno:

thank you for defending what you think you are doing is correct. you just prove my previous statement correct again. thank you. pls try again.
