- a99 is first of their dslt. will the next dslt will be incremental in features?
It's the first of the DSLT full frame, but not the first full frame. compared to the A850/A900 it's a gigantic leap in features. Full frame cameras have a much slower cycle than the consumer-level models.
Did u not feel a33/55 evf was testing the mkt? I feel cheated with the Awb tat they got right in a99
No, the EVF was LCD technology which was cheaper to make than OLED, thus keeping prices low for you too. Sony was still fine-tuning the OLED VF as well. As for AWB (which has no link to the EVF), in the same camera class the sonys are well-known to be pretty good.
- on mk2, I shoot weddings with a partner who's on mk2 and now mk3. I am insistent on Sony. But objectively I do ask myself if canon y canon if Sony y sony. As it is now I won't switch cos I like sony. But I will b renting a99 on needs basis or til the pricing is cosy with me. I was hurt when after a33/55 then came a35/57/65/77
Why hurt? A33/55 were entry-level models and like all manufacturers the entry-level gets refreshed very quickly. Look at how long the a77 took - A700 users have been waiting ages.
On commitment to roadmap, only time will tell.
yeah, same thing people have been screaming about for 5-6 years and yet sony has stuck to their word and support for A-mount and now also created E-mount.
If u r sony mgmt, would u choose passion or sales numbers? As a customer, if u pre ordered a99, and to see the drop over 2 mths, would u feel good cos u know all along it could hv been lower?
No matter what brand, C, N, Sony, sales numbers and profit are always important.
As for the pre-order cost, anybody with basic common sense will know price will always drop so why feel sad? Only a fool will think "oh no, if only I had waited it would be lower" because everyone knows that prices always will drop. For a pro, the price drop is irrelevant as it gave them 2 extra months to use the new tools.
