The video shooters on YouTube all say "yes".

But chances are it's like the A77 - so it's not the mechanical SSS, but the digital IS that uses a center crop of the sensor and intelligently shifts the "active section" around.

Yup, the specifications sound like that. So it's just software like in a cheap point'n'shoot, great.

Yeah but if I take video serious I can stabilize the footage in post even better. If the camera has IBIS they should make use of it and make it work in video mode.

It seems if I need high ISO I should buy a NEX-6, interesting...

Looking at D4. ;-)
Was hoping the A99 could offer me a nice combo of still image quality and also fast fps/high ISO for the events I shoot lately.

Seems like I'll stick to a900 for my portrait shots, then go D4 for events.

For me it will be the 5D Mark III I guess. The sensor sucks but I like the AF system. >.< I can't believe I waited for the A99...

darn was hoping to move to Sony FF you guys just burst my bubble :-( I guess I have to look elsewhere :-( I dont do vid on my DSLR I just want awesome ISO and awesome RAW files. Maybe I should try Canon 5D MK2? or D800? only draw backs is the freaking price of Canon and Nikon argh! and will need a fresh start with my lenses if I jump brand sigh

The prices are about the same, D800 goes for just below $3.65k and mkIII for $3.9k. I doubt the newer A99 will be any cheaper for some time. If you want good IQ I would buy a D800E, they sell for no more than $4.2k right now. Or buy a cheap D600.

Why aren't there any assistant AF points in the center?

jeez.. this is indeed sad. Why are they so video orientated. Seems like everything they make now focuses and emphasize alot on video.

lol, then you wouldn't be able to afford a A99 either, it retails for US$2.8k.

Not sure if a 5D MKII would even have better high ISO than a K-5 IIs or a NEX-6 these days. ;-) But that's just speculation of course.

I got RX100, enough for me for time being, next model of DSLR then I upgrade, my A850 also under usage. What I keen is the VG900 and I can offsite $1.5k from it using vouchers. Hopes the Viewcam dont cost over $4k here else i :sweat:

one thing I hate with my A77 is the toggle/joystick which acts as a toggle for AF point when walking and the cam is one your AF points will be accidentally changed :-( and on A99 they still retain it argh....

Haha, it's the same award winning design. They just scaled it up about ~10%. What did they actually update? They made the mirror box a bit bigger and slapped in a bigger plastic mirror and sensor, done. The ARM CPU should be the same since both cameras just need to handle 24MP.

I've loved that since the A700 days. No accidental changes for me though...

mine bro always brushes on my clothes so when i shoot my AF is no longer on the last position Ive place them unless you shooting wide or Area, its a minor issue but during the wedding shoot I made I find it a bit a hassle, but when doing casual shoot its no biggie. This happens to me alot specially when I'm using a neck strap.

Weak AA filter? :| Jeez, no way. Maybe compared to cameras 4 years ago but not by today's standards. Even a Contax N Digital is sharper.
