Well, im not sure if Sony will follow bilndly. But do you know that Sony is the 1st brand to make liveview better than Canon and Nikon. It didnt have mirror lock up. Well, such complicated mechanism, but sony did it. So maybe sony want to have a better video technology then canon and nikon, so they make some monster which will again Sony is the 1st brand to do this and that. So it takes them time to build in. Who knows they might even invent a internal memory of 1Tb DSLR without use of any CF card. Who knows man. Sony like no others. :bsmilie:

Yes, I thought I saw it somewhere that Sony announced that they want to make it work well before launching the feature to the consumers. Kudos to Sony.

Olympus was the first to have fast liveview with their E-330, however they abandoned its implementation after that for reasons I don't know.

Sony did state that they wouldn't have made video till they could get right. Somehow I feel they didn't say that for the sake of saying. Time will tell.

For what it's worth, the 850 (and also the 550) no longer appear on the US Sony registration website. The 500L however is still there.

I Sony playing monkey games ? Testing the market ? like.no.other .. :bsmilie:

850... it's coming SOONER than expected/anticpated...

I hope Sony can launch the model next week. N camp has just launched 2 models..... this week....

If Sony new cams' specs are similar to Nikon's, there is a high probability Sony might announce soon. Otherwise, I doubt so.

Confirm its a A850 Full Frame and the price is about 20% to 30% (RSP) cheaper than the A900 ( RSP )launching around Oct or Nov. 2009 .
A lot of New feature but the body is not as solid as the A900 Only by a little only.
Just wait and there will New Firmware Upgrade for all present A700 and A900.

Sources are from my Trusted Japanese conterparts in Japan .
I just got back from Japan only .

Cheers

What about the A700 replacement? It's about 2 years old, which in camera terms is a looooong time.

Or is the mid-ranged APS-C camera going the way of the dodo?

Wah!!! Juz came back from japan & already brought back the Buy-rus & poison. :bsmilie::bsmilie:

So any news on what sensor is this new A850? Same as A900 or using the latest Exmor? Video? :) I'm more concern with the IQ, how's it compare with the 900, build wise not really an issue for me

and probably just 1 Bionz chip instead of 2.

Ok...its looks like a good spare body to work with....I dont want them to make the pentaprism smaller and reduce the already superb brightness in the A900. Stay tuned...

A850, everything A900 has except 3FPS and 98% viewfinder.

Again, many like myself will come to such crossroads again - APS-C or FF? And again I'll rather stay with my A700. Hate to lose 1.5x crop factor. I see it as a more convenient tool to use an APS-C body for both APS-C and FF lens.

Not going into APS-C vs FF debate, please! Been discussed to death everywhere.

If the rumoured firmware upgrade for A700 posted by OLDTIMER is true, that will be great. Only need the micro-adjust function to tweak on my A700. Really find that function practical on the A900.

I'll skip this A850.

will seriously consider it if it's really within the 2k+ range since the a900 is already within the 3k+ bracket.

if it's the same as A700 launch price, I will consider.

again...no video...no liveview....

hmmm..i truely doubt that a850 is at the price of a700 this is because a850 is so close to a900 and spec. Also, a900 is already at $4k plus..My guess should b at least $3.5k launch rate.
If it really is a700 price, whoaaaa...it's too awesome! :D

again...no video...no liveview....

which is something true photographers will appreciate ... *four letter word* video and *four letter word* liveview ... where's the queue for this gem ?

as long as the rrp for A900 is more than 4k
i got a feeling it will be selling 3599 here at sgsin
