i share your sentiments....but difference is...my budget stopped me from splurging on an A900. :bsmilie:
u can use A900 as your main and A850 as your backup then.
The thing about these speculations/rumours is that many do not believe or even be a wet blanket when certain features or specs are being discussed and when the final product is officially announced, they will then criticise again why this and that was not included...
Hard to satisfy everyone...
then id be happy because my plans for a900 will not change.![]()
Even if a850 is ff, it still won't beat a900.
Furthermore, the price difference won't be too much esp when it is just launched and makes the a900 a even more attractive option.
I don't think Sony will price a850 too low as they still have to retain that empty slot for future a7xx models.
Also a5xx pricing must be above a3xx, so a850 should be in range of 3300-3800rrp. Rough guess....
unless they play to bring the A7xx models down to the A5xx model level, in other words sony re-doing the numbering system.
i was talking to a staff at CP, we agreed that the current entry level DSLRs are targeted at women, and the A5xx's will be targeted at men haha.
So A8xx target big man and A9xx targets old man??? :bsmilie:
It can also be with video recording and without video recording.
Anyway... We are all speculating here...
speaking of video, if sony wants to do video on their current DSLR lineup, they will have no choice but to dump the current live view system/spend more R&R on how the heck to incorporate current live view system with video recording.
and for pentaprism DSLRs, the sony LV system cannot be done on those. hence the reason why the a900 no LV in the first place.
I would prefer usable live view than video recording feature.
I don't need a flagship... I just wanted full frame cos I like wide angle... so didn't bother with the A700...
I would prefer usable live view than video recording feature.

the problem being nikon and canon having video in almost all their new camera lineups, there is a high chance that sony will follow suit. they wont care if you want usable live view, if they find that adding video recording feature would be a better crowd puller.
