A7r mk2

Hi guys, I just got my camera today and was fiddling with it. I have an old 58mm Minolta lens which I wish to use with the camera IBIS, but I cannot find this focal length in the menu.

Please advise if I should use the 55mm or 60mm option as an alternative.

Thank you!

Alright! Shall test test with 55mm. :)

Hi has anyone try the silent shutter mode for A7R2? Heard that with silent shutter mode the image will have some black line on the image?

You can try your luck on CS bns and eBay???

It's supposed to be a problem with the a7s, less on the a7r2 but even on that camera, I havent experienced the rolling shutter problem yet.

uneven lines/light during silent shutter more a problem with artificial light, usually fine during natural light. same problem as a7s as it is not a "global" electronic shutter.

Btw, anyone experiencing the camera taking a longer time to write the file to card? I usually review my picture manually after the shot, and I always encounter the writing to card error. It take a few seconds for the writing to be completed before I can review the image. I'm using a sandisk extreme plus card btw. Is it still too slow?

Haha. Thanks. Figured just get a good all in one camera. Gxgx to you as well

the problem may not be write time. I see the same delay from trying to manually review the image immediately after shooting from using both JPEG only and JPEG + Raw, even 18MP JPEG.

seems that the camera takes a little longer to be able to generate the preview on the LCD screen for review.

You will not notice any difference. Though logically, setting it slightly "wider" is better for this scenario than slightly more tele, and since you will only activate 3 axis stabilization with third party lenses.

For better understanding of this scenario, if you set ibis focal to 28mm for a 35mm lens, you will get some degree of stabilization, but effectiveness is not maximize.
However, if you set ibis focal to 50mm for a 35mm lens, the mechanism may overcompensate, and causes shaky images rather than stabilizing the image.

Hope that helps

I face the same issue as well, but actually not only limited to reviewing of photos. After I've clicked on shutter and want to access a certain menu function, the same message pops up, so I have to wait for that couple of secs more. I'm using the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s and the free Sony card that's also rated at 95MB/s for read maybe. One of my friend says should get the 280MB/s instead? But at that price range, and for my amateur shooting, I'm not sure if I should just wait for that few secs. haha. after all, burst shots still work fine.

While waiting for the 85mm, will have to make do with the 55mm.

the only problem i seem to encounter recently with this camera is that the metering will sometime underexposed a scene i wanted to shoot. Even when i change from evaluative to spot metering and point at a dark object, it will remain under exposed on the lcd and shots taken. I will then have to off the camera and then switch it back on to have the metering goes back to normal.

Two images from A7r mk2. 1st with 19mm Elmarit-R and 2nd with FE55. Shadow recovery is very clean. Good details.

nope... no news from cathay photo yet...

by the way... i bought the canon 50mm f1.8 STM just to try on the a7r2/metabones for fun... the lens AFs much much faster on the a7r2 vs the 5D3! Makes me wonder if there is a firmware update required on the 5D3. how can the AF be so slow...

The lens resolves very well so far! in the centre at least as i only tested it for shots of my son. AF speed is on par with the 55 1.8 sony.
