A7r mk2

What about lens test

I was there on Sunday deciding to purchase the A7 or A7MII, just have to let the staff on duty that day what you wish to try they will bring it out for yo to try as many as you wish to. Some are locked up and they will be glad to unlock and bring it for you to try.

what about bring own lens with adapter to test is this allow?

Could be some hot pixels issues here..... I'm holding off. :

" So now I have an A7R II with what I believe to be a thermal noise issue such as the D810 at launch. Other websites and forums have given the A7R II a pass on this but I think it needs to be addressed by Sony and not in post processing.

I believe that for $3200, this quality is unacceptable. The D810 image quality beats the A7R II hands down at ISO 64 and 100. Where I think the A7R II becomes better is after ISO 400-800. If there is no fix for this from Sony, the question is what’s more important to me as a landscape shooter, better quality at low ISO with the D810 or better higher ISO on the A7R II that allows me to capture a greater range of light with better image quality, plus the weight savings… "

Anyone else ??

Isn't this normal for CMOS under long exposure?

i will make the same comment as i did on the FB post where this was posted

" i think it's quite funny that people are intentionally underexposing shots, boosting exposure up and boosting saturation, and looking at pixels 4:1 or 400% size to find problems with an excellent camera."

so far none of my long exposure shots ranging from 30 secs to 50 secs have manifested this. but then again i dont boost saturation and brightness to exaggerate any noise and view them at 4:1 size. that's worse than pixel peeping. peeping pixels at 400%!

Pixel peeping at 400%! Must be competitor brands. :)

Anyway i have attached here a raw file for those who are interested to find out if the claim is really that bad. To be honest, from my test, it doesn't even affect the way i shoot at all. This was shot at 30" on ISO 50 at F16 on the Zeiss Distagon 35mm F1.4. Long exposure noise reduction is set to off. :)

If its just simple hot pixels, the solution has been around for a while. Had this with my previous Nex/alpha cameras, its not really a problem. Just do a re-calibration ( hot pixel mapping) , issue will be more or less gone. The camera does it once every 30 days automatically. It affects most large megapixel cameras, a7r had that too, just gotta follow the instructions as provided in the link below. Its as simple as changing the date , taking a picture and switching it off. Can check it all out at dpreview threads. Cheers.

If its anything else other than that, like intentional fault finding through exaggerated tests, nothing can solve that kinda OCD i suppose. Have fun with your new systems everyone.

Yes, every time I feel the urge coming on, I'd just go to Sony ................:p

Anyone know what the availability is like? Quite a hot camera, I'm expecting that there will be some waiting period after the initial rush, especially if you intend to buy from 3rd party photo stores.

Anyone have a backorder from Cathay, MS, etc. and an estimate for fulfilment?

Holding off selling my A7M2 until I can be sure to change over :)

Was at 313 Sony yesterday and was told stocks coming in 2 weeks time. just leave ur name in their waiting list.
