A7r mk2

for me the the BSI on full frame sensor is great as it should provide better ISO capabilities without sacrificing MP count (like a7s)

the 399pt PDAF also sounds attractive for the AF sony/zeiss lenses. The fast readout is useful also for the silent shutter which was not possible for the original A7R.

4K video not really needed for me as well hehe... I don't shoot 4K even though i have the A7S which needs the external recorder. Use the A7S as a regular stills camera hehe....

I would wait for A7SII, hopefully more MP den A7S, but less than A7RII, with spectacular high ISO and the same AF tech as the A7RII, or the A7 III
I dont understand why an average user would need the 42MP BSI sensor.
If you want the sensor, that means you need the faster readout for 4K video, and the resolution for large prints, which makes you a serious/pro photographer/videographer, then you should be able to justify the cost.
Personally, I think Sony's pricing is reasonable. A7II is more than enough for "average" users. A7RII is for pros and really serious amateurs.

A7s2 annouce 6 months later ?
hehe

Me too.. will wait for A7S II. 42MP is too huge.. I dont even do so big prints.

Cut down on the Megapixels and Get the ISO performance the same or better than A7S. I will buy it.

But it may cost more than A7RII... since the A7S seems to be more pricey than the A7R to speak.

The BSI or Exmor R sensors date back to 2008. Not until recently did SONY and Samsung start to implement this technology to large APS-C and FF sensors. The stacked or Exmor RS sensors in RX100M4 and RX10M2 were newly developed from 2012. A reasonable guess for this kind of technology to be applied to APS-C and FF sensors would be in 4 years, so I think A7RM3 probably won't equip with such sensor unless competitors are really strong, which is highly unlikely.

If A7r mk3 with stacked/exmor RS sensor, produce in 2017/8, I will get it for replacing A850, heh heh! But wait, if A-mount compatible without adapter even better! Having a hard time with LAEA4 when I mounted the 135mm F1.8, especially when I turn the camera body to vertical, connection might cut off :(

The specs are good, but price a bit too high, especially if you buy the Zeiss lenses. Sony in not yet in that pro or luxury bracket yet to command that price.

The A7Rii will probably sell but Sony may eventually be priced out of the market again like what happened to their TVs and HP products.

Sony is good at electronics and they focus on camera sensor. It's a potent combination that they can make a universal camera platform for consumers to adapt various mounts to it. This is a new paradigm and will shake the market. Consumers no longer have to be loyal to specific mounts just because of lock in.

Kudos to sony. Keep pushing the envelope!

Some positive also for BSI namely I the light sensitivity look at A7r MK2 they pack it with more MP plus more phase detect but still manager two increase the ISO range... and beside not all would want 4K it's a plus to have but I wont want to pay for it with my arm :-). I am pretty much happy with my A7r but would be nice to have another A7r mk2 option that don't have much of those unwanted feature very few would want to have 4K ibis is a plus 5 or 3 axis...

PS I said same sensor (BSI) if more MP its a welcome if not its ok I am more into ISO range saldly A7s too little MP for me... if that cam has 18-24 would be awesome

agree with you bro I am also waiting for A7s mk2 with at least hmmm 24MP BSI sensor?

IQ I will say yes bro :-) other aspect hmmm maybe not... don't get me wrong I'm no canikon I am a Sony user.

I meant usd $3200 A7Rii vs $3900 5DSR, a lot ppl think A7Rii price too high because they compare with D810 or 5DM3?

we have the same sentiment bro I also find A7r MK2 a bit on the highside price wise :-)

My only concern is with such frequent launch of new Sony alpha 7 full frame mirrorless bodies, potential buyer may have 'wait and see' attitude to hope price drop of current models...i am one of them...let's wait for cheaper A7ii soon! Haha

Not same le, i thk price of A7Rii is alright if compared to canon 5DSR... Too bad i'm poor guy...haha

I find it a bit high bro sadly.... I think A7r mk1 price is more what I was hoping A7r MK2 should be priced....

I hope there's two variant of A7r mk2 one with less added feature like no 4K or maybe reduce IBIS like 3-Axis and priced well for average person like us

Just wishful thinking lor....... Photography was never intended as a hobby for the average person. You are definitely above average and the A7RII was made specially for You. ;)

Honestly I won't be surprised if A7S2 is more expensive than A7R2, if we look at launch prices of both.

wah paiseh man, i only compare the A7Rii with Canon's 5DM3 ....

USD 3,200 not expensive meh ? Certainly not my league leh ...
