for me the the BSI on full frame sensor is great as it should provide better ISO capabilities without sacrificing MP count (like a7s)
the 399pt PDAF also sounds attractive for the AF sony/zeiss lenses. The fast readout is useful also for the silent shutter which was not possible for the original A7R.
4K video not really needed for me as well hehe... I don't shoot 4K even though i have the A7S which needs the external recorder. Use the A7S as a regular stills camera hehe....
I would wait for A7SII, hopefully more MP den A7S, but less than A7RII, with spectacular high ISO and the same AF tech as the A7RII, or the A7 III

I dont understand why an average user would need the 42MP BSI sensor.
If you want the sensor, that means you need the faster readout for 4K video, and the resolution for large prints, which makes you a serious/pro photographer/videographer, then you should be able to justify the cost.
Personally, I think Sony's pricing is reasonable. A7II is more than enough for "average" users. A7RII is for pros and really serious amateurs.
