hopefully their video recording is more compatible with most video editors. Canon and nikon DSLR Video recording modes is still far ahead of the HD video cams standard.

Far ahead? You mean far behind.

lol Sony has been in the video industry for very long already man!! Of course their format is compatible with most video editors!

The only lead DSLR based video recording is Large Sensor + Interchangeable lens + Narrow DOF + HD video standards. Everything else is quite simplified.

Though that doesn't mean that it's not functional, I'd be seriously tempted if there's a Time Code out... at least can get a separate mic and audio recorder and still remain in sync with relative ease.

Otherwise, I'd just use it as a Video medium and replace the sound track.

It's man, actually a fine video making tool if you know how to make do with it. Narrow DOF, good low light performance - great stuff if you can make use of it.

Sony's one of the leading players in Pro Video - Video Production, Broadcast, Cinema (Cine Alta) along with Panasonic. They are the ones who make the standards, and most people just follow.

Remember the S/PDIF plug? Sony/Philips Digital Interface
Sony's Betacam system: industry standard when they are introduced

Oh.. sorry my bad
I've mistaken it for bluetooth.
Yep, it'll probably takes a sec (801g) or 4 sec (801b) for ~5Mb pic.

Bro...you won't get this sort of throughput one lah. You've not considered packet collisions, transmission and protocol overheads, infrastructure bottlenecks...etc.

You should be very happy if you can attain several hundred Kbps. :)

i hope the replacement support CF and the new CFast

PLEASE don't remove CF support.

I'll be sad to see the A700 go :(
I have one and it's been serving me very well indeed...

Oh well, I hope the replacement will come soon and have useful features.

I won't change to the new A700 replacement since I just embark on it, outdated but trusty:)

I'll consider upgrading to the successor if it has the "Exmor R" sensor :D

Quite fast to discontinue A350 as it was launched only early 2008 right?

Anyway, I'll be sticking to my A350 for some time. Its serving me well and I don't need anything more that what it can do for me. Besides, the liveview is simply great. Allows me to take awkward angles. Especially useful when I do actual day wedding shoots in tight rooms.

Juz received the latest Sony catalog. Only A230 shown with prices, A330 is arriving, the catalog are still selling A350 and A700, thus dont think any of the mentioned news are true for the A700 replacement. =)

when are they going to release firmware upgrade for the 2xx/3xx series?

what the price?

okay bro, thanks for the heads up ;)
Understand that there are always signal/transmission losses.
That quote (54Mbps & 11Mbps) is based on the estimated fastest speed.
Just like wireless broadband standard in 801g, 801b,.. real life is at least few times slower.

Dunno, ask Sony.

But what are the issues you experience?
well, was hoping for +/-2 EV bracketing for easier HDR, better noise reduction algorithm, and hope they can make the useless "digital teleconverter" button usefull rather than give an error

anyways the new firmware for the 230/330/380 very nice what, can change colour some more

The "Digital Teleconverter" only usable in fine/jpeg mode. Though a more meaningful message should be used rather than an error.

The buttons are different in the new cameras and some features have been dropped as well. So, the firmware for 230/330/380 may not be applicable to older cameras.

Better noise handling is what I wish as well. :)

Well... Why would a company introduce those features in a camera where 95% of people who buy it wouldn't understand what you're saying, rather than have you upgrade to the semi-pro model designed for people who do exposure bracketing, HDR, etc etc?
