I think that would have to be either a 50f18 SAM or the new 35f18 SAM for Alpha APS-c shooters ! :bsmilie: ...cheap and good !
I have he SAM50f1.8 already a thinking of 35 or 85 but see how it goes

I want wide lenses coz I shoot landscape and architecture... I think 11-18 is good will read some reviews about Sony lenses and Minolta
I certainly enjoyed the last few postings starting from #250 !
They were matured and meaningful exchanges which did NOT had to resort to product bashing or "mine's better than yours" mentality or fan boys type squabbles that's so common in so many threads.
Kudos to you guys!![]()
Each system has it's good and bad points and no matter what your system is we should respect each other we are not here to wage war we are here to enjoy photographywe have our own reason why we choose to buy what system we are currently using.
I still learing and researching a good lens or a must have in Sony/Minolta

The 11-18mm is pretty good and the distortion is acceptable to me.
Here's a sample pic taken with the lens. No editing was done but pic was taken with filters. Please pardon my noob skill and dirty sensor.
Totally agree with you guys.![]()
LOL ! ...see what I mean, almost every Alpha shooter would have or have tried and sold off the 50f18 (for something better eg: 50f12) :bsmilie:
Poison!!! lols just kidding love those wide/ultr wide lensesI think I use this more than zoom... hmmm I should have gotton the wide lens when bought the cam
anyways 18mm is not that bad also was using 14-54 on 4/3 w/c is 28mm equivalent FF
now using 18 w/c is 27mm not that bad kinda use to this wide but would want to have much wider
tks for the nice photo looks like CPL was applied?
You're welcome bro. The photo was taken with a GND filter cos I left my CPL at home that day.
Actually I think you would like the 11-18mm and 16-105mm combination. The 16-105mm is my favorite lens and this combo is my travel kit.![]()
yeah I should have done more research when I bought my lens it's not that 18-250 is a bad glass just thought I would have a all in one lens hehehe. I suddenly remember the say "Jack of all traits, Master of none" I am not saying the 18-250 is not a capable lens its a good all rounder but cant ask too much out of it ^_^
I want something sharper than 18-250 that wont burn a huge whole in my pocket. I'm just a hobbyst and doesnt earn from photography and I dont showcase my photo other than to my family :bsmilie:
Thanks all you guys for a warm welcome to A-Family I would say this place is like 4/3 place evryone is nice and helpful!
Thanks albertri for the comparison of the E620 vs the A33!
I think the size is roughly the same... I am thinking of moving towards something smaller really because I am so lazy to even bring the E620 out =X
I enjoyed my lx3 previously much more... hmm...

Actually I a lot of people said that the 18-250mm is very sharp, I m not sure as I don't own the lens but to me, I find my 16-105mm lens very sharp and some people say that it's comparable to the CZ16-80mm. The lens is about the same price as the 18-250mm in the 2nd hand market which I feel is quite reasonable.
For a smaller cam, you may want to take a look at the Sony NEX 3/5, Panasonic GF1 or the Samsung NX series. These are pretty impressive cameras.
Yeah the 18-250 is sharp just a bit soft at both ends (just a bit) but I could live with it, not into pixel peeps etc.
Hope I could join some outings thtas the time you could normally try out other lenses :bsmilie:
And don't forget the bundled price you paid for that lens ! ...comparing to it's SRP of S$899, it's a steal !
I knew about the 18-250 weakness when I got my A55, but for S$400+, I can live with it, not to mention it will suit the purpose of the A55 to a T for me, which is a single lens travelling setup and also doubles up as the wife's camera for local outings ! :bsmilie:
I wish I could keep two systems in my dry cabinet missus just ask me who shall I keep
Simple ! ...you choose one and the other one you give to HER to keep ! ...on the condition that she buys another dry cabinet for it thus freeing space for your new collection of lense that will be coming in :bsmilie:
Boy, I sure hope she doesn't read this together with you otherwise the cats outta the bag !
She's not into photography tried to recruit her once failed.
You're not recruiting her right ! ...I teach you how !
Bring her along for one of those paid shoots, the skimpier the outfit on the XMM, the better !:bsmilie: ...tell her it's all about learning how to shoot better and that the next time she wanna tag along, she would have to lug a dslr !
Confirmed the next time you say you're going out for a shoot, she'll rush to grab her camera !!! :sweatsm:
good one bro if I did that she'll tag along alwaysanyways I've posted my cam (body 1st) in BnS ;p
