5D2: whats the problem? why many waiting 5D3?

I just want a cheap 18MP FF from canon, hoping 3D can fulfill that.
I don't even mind if it uses 7AF points from 1000D.

What about a 3D, 18MP, no video, but an APS-H sensor with 7D's AF at about 3K?

but when i asked them "why wait for mk3, what wrong with mk2?" their most frequent answer answer is "coz its going to be replaced soon". is that a reason?... FTW?!;(

the only flaw i can think from 5D2 is the slow AF (not to mention its low ISO range compared to 1D4 :bsmilie, other than that its a superb DSLR.

I think Canon DSLRs get released so frequently that people would naturally expect the next model to come out soon. 5D2 has been out for more than a year and the typical replacement time is about 18 months so it is not so surprising.

The wait from 5D to 5D2 was three long years and we waited and waited. This time round it's anyone's guess.

The main flaw with 5D2 is that it is called 5D2 and not 5D3.

I am actually waiting for the MK4. When is it coming out? My MK2 has slow auto focus. I am sure they will get it right in MK4. Probably MK3 also not so amazing......

im one of those waiting for the mk3. im using the 5D now - got very tempted to get the mk2, but decided it wasn't such a big upgrade.

would have preferred more AF points, side points with cross-type sensors. it's really tough to get off-centre focussing right when using large aperture lenses. focus and recompose doesn't work that well. having the electronic level would be cool too since most of my shots are always tilted slightly.

oh wait..isn't that the d700? haha. i'm just waiting for the camera that makes me go wow i want it now! the 5d2 came close, but not close enough.

just maximising my money and leapfrogging technology.

Well, the 5DMkII firmware just got updated, so I guess that means MkIII will not be coming so soon.

a) coming from 40D, the release of 5DMKII was too early an upgrade
b) now 5DMKII is supposedly halfway thru its life (3yr release span)
c) seeing 7D, I would want the wireless flash onboard thus 5DMKIII
d) focusing slow, and complain of missed focus by other users.
e) higher expectation before it was released.

that depends on whether his peers will purchase Mark 3 or Mark 2 after that...

but i am all for getting technology one generation behind; they can still achieve amazing results.

No problem with the 5D2. I guess as a typical consumer, you rather have a newer model than an older one. Moreover, the feeling when you just got a 5D2, only to realise that the price has been reduced due to the entry of the newer model is bad enough to warrant a wait for the new one.

Not on the 7D, the onboard flash is used instead. The ST-E2 is quite a beast and equivalent features might not fit easily on a camera body.
