hi 5D2 users, i raise this question coz came across several friends who're thumb suckingly waiting for 5D3 and keep on asking when will it come out? but when i asked them "why wait for mk3, what wrong with mk2?" their most frequent answer answer is "coz its going to be replaced soon". is that a reason?... FTW?!;(

the only flaw i can think from 5D2 is the slow AF (not to mention its low ISO range compared to 1D4 :bsmilie, other than that its a superb DSLR.

btw, they are mostly 40D & 50D user.

when 5DIII come out liao, they will say too expensive and won't buy.

I remember someone questioning if many of the people slagging the 5Dmk2 actually have any experience with it.

I almost closed my wallet after reading all the doom and gloom comments around here. After a few weeks of wavering (which is quite unusual for me). I took the plunge and was blown away. Viewing the first set of test shots on the 24-105, my brain went fuzzy. It's like shooting slides on the M series. The colours, the resolution, the vibrancy.

One month later. I am seriously considering paying up $400 for the extended warranty.

I am totally sold on 5D2 IQ. I paid 3999 when it first came out, never regreted it. If the price is now around 3000 before GST, then I would really recommend anyone hesitating to go with it. 5D mark one is still holding its value at $2000 in second hand market today. In 3 years time, 5D2 second hand maybe 2K, that's a worthwhile 1K depreciation for 3 years of wonderful photography, you probably burnt more on film/processing in 3 years...

You might be wrong....Canon always price their camera about the same price as the replacement model and sometime even cheaper. When 1DM3 was launch, it was cheaper than 1DM2. 5DM2 is also cheaper than 5D when it is launch. So 5DM3 just body, I suspect that it will not be more then $4K (Street price). Worth the wait? :bsmilie:

Imagine, the $1K or less diff in price, you get 19F2.8 AF points, 5FPS, Auto focus video mode....full weather sealed, ISO 102400....30MP ....:sweatsm::lovegrin::think:

Haha...what I am trying to say is....if you don't need the camera then wait...you will almost always get something better for the same price. If you really need the camera, just go ahead and buy cos you never know how long you will wait for the next revision. The moments that you miss while you wait might be more costly then the new camera release.

Coz the classic 5D does the job just as well! I will "upgrade" when my 4 year old 5D dies, which to be honest, I can't even begin to predict... it's a workhorse! :bsmilie:

So sure, count me in for "I'm waiting for the 5D Mark V or Mark VI or Mark VII... which ever model comes out at the time of my classic 5D's demise" :bsmilie::bsmilie:

ur 'expectation specs on the Mk3 is too good - n yes ur right i need it like now...lolz - i've been saving fr the Mk2 since the day it came out, so affordable to the 1Ds Ff most importantly is that i need to scratch my hands the creative work i can do with: MkIII + 5D2 = Fps + Hd + Ff :lovegrin: i've saved till now 3900 n this happen to the 5D2 :love1: next week is 'D day! savings $$ will go topup 24MkII or 70-200IS! if some kind soul sell their lens:angel:

I think having video in RAW is a bit too much. Even if you can shoot it in RAW video the processing time needed to edit it would be really bad, unless you plan to edit on high end Mac machines or servers. You'll have lots of slag(?) cos your machine need to keep processing so much data... And anyway the final output will be compressed if you're uploading to webites. The only real use is if you want to transfer it to 35mm film, at which point you'd better have lots and lots of $$$$!!
