yup, that is the same reason why i've decided not to buy the 5d2 and stick to the 5D! hopefully it will improve on the 5D3? please canon, stop re-using AF modules from 20 years ago!Hmm can you elaborate ? How cheap and where ?
Seriously the AF on the 5D is really a headache for fast prime other then the center AF point and they are so near to the center i have problem not to recompose if i required my subject near or over the line of thrid.
But once focus hit on, the IQ is stunning.

Viewing the first set of test shots on the 24-105, my brain went fuzzy. It's like shooting slides on the M series. The colours, the resolution, the vibrancy.
One month later. I am seriously considering paying up $400 for the extended warranty.
I almost closed my wallet after reading all the doom and gloom comments around here. After a few weeks of wavering (which is quite unusual for me). I took the plunge and was blown away. confirm, just called them and it is 2960$ body and 4276$ body + 24-105L w/o GST.
Either 5DM3 coming out or they get insane.

i got mine for $3167 (gst included), paid in cash.
no freebies. no screen protector. no compactflash.
at holland v parisilk.
i wanted to get from my usual haunt ms color but they quoted me $3750.
i mentioned to them about the canon website and they told me to wait 1 day.
i guess florence wasn't around so nobody could decide.
then i called parisilk, told them about the website and they came back to me with $2960 within 30 seconds! the rest is history..
OMG no stock at a lot of place. Those with stock remain their price.
did u try cathay? they quoted me $3280.
when i was at holland, they had 2 more sets left.

The more likely scenario would be to anticipate Nikon's launch of D700 successor. I doubt the 5D3 would be launched anytime soon.
