I think we should not let this degenerate into another "dpreview" site.
There are pros and cons for everythings.
Nothings is perfect as we are living in an imperfect world.
Both Nikon and Canon have it's strength and weakness why do we need to get into the Nikon vs Canon argument?
Since Singapore can have 4 major races living peacefully, why can't we have Nikon, Canon and other brand users living peacefully too?
Camera is just a tools and it's the person behind it that make the different.

Just my 2 cents worth of thoughts .... ;)

The same soft corners and light falloff would occur on 1Ds series and film cameras.... it's a characteristic of FF.
It is more pronounced on digital.

IMHO, it should be evolved to another dpreview site .... It's a good sign that shows the reputation and quality of content improve

Search this thread on who mentioned the word "Nikon" first, and who added the fuel...

Don't forget that there are some who has never lived in SG and have not see us living in harmony racially, religiously.

Have you ever visited the Dpreview forums? Enough ugly stuff there to make CS seem pretty tame in comparison. What the previous poster meant is he does not want to see CS forums degenerate into something like that.

If you are talking about the reviews (by Phil Askey), then yes, that is a terrific site for the in-depth reviews/previews. I love reading Phil's concise and thorough reviews of new cameras.

Shinken: I would like to draw your attention to WHO drew the topic OTs and deviated towards the Nikon and Canon thingie?

Xing: Oh.. so now we're starting the "this is xxxx forum" segregation? So I cannot come in and talk?

*kwaaak kwaaak*

I know lah, I know. :) Can come in and talk. Sit down, drink some cyber kopi, and hang around yah?

This applies to all equipment. If you don't know their strengths and limitations, even if you get the best-camera-in-the-world or camera nirvana, you won't produce good pictures.

Light fall-off is something that takes 2-5 secs to correct in photoshop. Distortion can be easily corrected in the same menu in photoshop if you know what to do with the image.
Want to maximise corner to corner sharpness, stop down to f8.

Gone were the days when people took pains to get around the limitation of the gear when they had to deal with slides...folks used to get ND center filter to get around the problems with light fall-off.

Depending on what subjects you're shooting, light falloff and corner softness can work for you. There's no one-fit-all mode that can solve all your problem.

Bottom line is, in the hands of the clueless, any cam, be it Nikon or canon or whatever-brand, is never good enough. Ironically, digital is supposed to elevate and break the barrier on analog workflow.

Frankly, FF cams like 5D is not for everyone you need to know how to optimise your optics, how to post-process in order to harness the capability of the cam to the fullest. Else it's like driving a ferrari on orchard road (no offense to ferrari car owners, just an analogy.

Wahahha!!! This has to be the best bullsh!t I've ever read in a long time.

And nobody wondered why a 16-35 f/2.8L was to replace the 17-35 f/2.8L?

Or how about why a 17-40 f/4L was created :bsmilie:

Now I know why you were oust from dpreview. :bsmilie:

You are not worth my time, or energy having any sort of discussion with you.

Heeheehee... it's much better than ISO 400 on my sony T1.

Of course! Ultra compacts cannot compare to dSLRs in terms of high iso performance.

Anyway Sony compact cams are not known to produce good shots at high iso. 200 was the highest I went with my P100.

My....the height of ignorance and fanboyism.

Nikon full-frame cameras include the following: Nikon E2N/E2Ns(1996), E3(1998).
Kodak DCS-14N, SLR Pro/N.

1998, and 1996 were a Looooong time ago..

Kodak couldn't produce a camera that could hold it's own against the 5D, hence the reason why they announced the discontinuation of them just prior to the official announcement of the 5D for under 4K..

Fanboyism.. Ignorance,...

I take that as an insult. Let's not go there.. :)

Well done Darren. Sometimes you need policeman to control the traffic, even though there are traffic signs along the way.

Nikon..

Ok,... I just said it again... Before, I was referring to a "war" between brands that I felt was / is silly. I think we can have a discussion regarding the strengths of any system's tools within it without stooping low..

I think we can have / allow people who own cameras that aren't the name of the forum catagory to have something to say,...heck, even a critical point adds to the discussion, and provides another point of veiw.

We can be civil, and have an enlightened discussion without going dpreview on each other here.....cant we..?

I think that's totally uncalled for.

*kwaaaak kwaaaaak*

Uncalled for because this digresses from the topic. Uncalled for because the mod has already given the warning. The warning was not directed to any specific person, but all. Uncalled for because your "fact" is only gonna flame the nikon vs canon sentiments stronger, even if they were true. I'm not saying they're not. But I'm not saying they are. I'm saying your "fact" is pointless when the thread is degenerating into a flame war.

Bring your complaints to the mods if you find baiters in any of the forums. Simply enough. The mods are extremely vigilant here. If you doubt their ability to moderate, either raise it in the FAQ, direct PM (they respond extremely quickly), or simply leave. Simple as that. So please stop whatever posts that's gonna be Nikon vs Canon, or Nikoners vs Canoners, if those terms mean anything to you.

the photos look OK at ISO3200. should be useable.
