Strawberry or chocolate?

neither.. they are trying to put red rubber bands on the cams itself, so you dun need the red rubber bands on the lenses. :D

Canon is probably thinking on how to milk you guys without having to putting to much features. LOL!

Why is it so hard to accept that the function of a corporation is to make money?

ummm... because they have overdone it? especially so when competitors have proven otherwise.

IMHO, mainly because of that print button. :bsmilie:

It's the fundamental of creating corporation, however, if a company start to focus on short term profit maximisation, the customer loyalty, branding will suffer, eventually that is still not good for 'making money'. Some time it's better to have your own product kill your existing product, then letting your competitor do that. At least you keep the profit/customer, when there is sentimental value within company to protect certain sacred cow, competitor will have no mercy of your sacred cow. In fact they will target your cash cow, weaken your profit stream, and eat you alive after that. That is reality in biz world.

Who need the print button, I would rather exchange the print function for better functions in the firmware.

Excellent points. I'd like to point out, however, that Canon's decision is flawed only because they underestimated how far Nikon was willing to go. Now that we've seen Nikon's response, lets wait to see what Canon will do before condemning them. The 5D2 might not be the answer though - it takes time to tool up for a new product line.

For too long Canon had dominated the market with full frame DSLRs, a high speed DSLR, a low noise CMOS sensor, and a cheap (sub US$1k) DSLR. The competition has caught up, and in many areas exceeded Canon. But lets keep things in perspective and don't forget that Canon got there first. Sure, they've been complacent and underestimated the competition, and they deserve ridicule for that. But the way people have turned against Canon just because they've fallen behind for now disgusts me. It just smacks of fanboy mentality and views the whole issue as black and white. It's not. It never is. There's way more shades of gray than even a 14 bit sensor can resolve.

Canon's P&S finally has a customizable "Print" button. Hopefully this carries over to their DSLR. Personally I think that the (non customizable) print button might be the single most stupid addition to a DSLR.

Ditto x 100000.

maybe they can even make it available as a firmware upgrade to the existing DSLR lines.

At least that is one feature that Canon has that none of the other manufacturer.

Thanks for a stoic defence for Canon! We needed that. We shall be patient, which is what this thread is for, developing patience, till the eventual release.

Good idea! Anyone knows where to get fake diamond? (Sorry credit card limit so can only buy 5D2 or diamond. :embrass:)

If I could sell the Print Button at B&S, I would! But for now, it is in Mint Condition! LOL!!!

.....mine is not mint....I switch it to AEL or AFL.

So which one to come first for this round ?

The entry-level budget FF or the all-guns-ablazing tech model ?

Canon's product policy strictly reserves the "all-guns-ablazing" models for the 1D series.

Perhaps the best thing Canon can do now is to FIRE that a**hole who dictated that strategy :bsmilie:
