Well, we already have Nikon's response even B4 Canon showcases its update to the 5D successor. Since the rumored D700 has a 51 pt AF system, we can be sure Canon's equivalent is definitely going to be handicapped.

Perhaps it's time to seriously consider the possibility of jumping ship.

Spending $3K on "old" technology may not be wise now. Canon is likely to replace the replacement with much better tech at lower price($4K -$5K). I will gladly pay the extra $1K plus for the rumoured specs of the 5DMII. 1DM3 is selling at about $500-$700 less then 1DM2, if 5DMII follows the same route, it should be release at $4.5K or so. Unless the current 5D drops below $2K(new).....I feel that is it not worth if FF is all that you want.

i almost put those 16 digits of my credit card down to buy a 5D but have decided to wait till the replacement is released. i think the replacement price will be competitive with the current 5D price, if not more than $500-$1000 over. i think $500-$1000 extra is worth paying for something that will still be 'current' technology in 3 years time.

I've tried it before so i know hehe. Hope in 2+ weeks from now there will still be 5D sold on shelves cos i heard from some that it has been discontinued.

Saw one brand new set with 24-105L "kit" lens on the shelf of John 3:16 abt a week back.

I know. Cathay also have sell, similar with other camera shops. Now with the 24-105 kit, is $4999 which is over my budget.

I'll just get the body and grip, and still can use back my 3 Ls. Dun really need for a 24-105 too.
