Transcend always very cheap at Comex... but not sure after show, at their own shop, would it be the same price. Usually not, but you will see a price list at their shop. There is 2 Transcend shop. At Funan & Sim Lim Sq 4th level.

I had wanted to buy a 16gb 133x at $85 at the fair, but i dun have enough money. Saw that credit accepted for above $100... Nothing else that i wanted from Transcend. So i used credit to buy the 133x 32gb card at $158. The capacity a bit overkkill, i also dunno wat to do with it yet. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

The 133x 8Gb was selling at an incredible $37 on the first day. Didn't buy it when I saw it. Went on Saturday morning, it was sold out already. Ended buying the 16Gb for the said $78.

The Transcend cards were put up by Memory World.

OMG, just bought 8gb at $68 1 week before COMEX, cos my parents need it. Sian.

8gb extreme III cf - $85 at AP.

I have seen my friends lexar 300x 4gb and he said he bought it for $48 first hand

Recently i had a thought... Like which CF card is most worth it. Must be balance in term of price, speed & capacity...

Based on Best Bargain's pricing i saw today...

Kingston Normal 4gb-$19.80
Kingston Elite Pro 2 (133x) 4gb-$23.50 8gb-$38.60 16gb-$79.70
Kingston Ultimate 2 (266x) 4gb-$66.20 8gb-$124.20

Sandisk Ultra 2 (100x) 4gb-$39.40 8gb-$63.70
Sandisk Extreme 3 (200x) 4gb-$51.60 8gb-$85.90 16gb $162.50
Sandisk Extreme 4 (266X) 4gb-$85.30 8gb-$148.80

I will get Kingston Elite Pro over Sandisk Ultra 2, which is slower but more pricey, becoz of it being a Sandisk?

Sandisk Extreme 4 is way faster than Kingston Ultimate 2. It was proven in many tests you can find here : http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

Look at the price difference in Elite Pro & Ultimate. I do not think the Ultimate is worth 3x pricey than Elite Pro. The speed at the most is 2x more but the price is 3x more. :bsmilie:

Sandisk Extreme 3 is not cheap... not for those on a budget i guess.

I feel that the best value is Kingston Elite Pro 133x 8gb at only $38.60. Affordable & relatively speedy. Lifetime agent warranty too.

Sandisk Extreme 3 (200x) 4gb-$51.60 8gb-$85.90 16gb $162.50

still at $85.90? is this with official warranty or shop warranty? AP is selling it for $85 with official vector magnetics warranty.

Best Bargain's Sandisk doesn't have Vector Magnetic stickers. What warranty i dunno. I know their Kingston has LIfetime warranty but not by Convergents System, but at Funan Centre #06-04.

If getting Sandisk Extreme 3 or 4, must take note that they are the new type, the Extreme 3 should be new type speed upped to 2000x, reflected on the box. For Extreme 4, old type 40mb/s & new type 45mb/s, the box & the card design is different too. In SLS, only Alan Photo's Extreme 4 has the new type, the rest of the ppl all selling old type Extreme 4.

To see how fast your card can clear the buffer, try taking continous shutter in 'RAW+Jpeg'. Slower cards will hang the camera, in a sense becoz card cannot write fast enough, buffer is full, so you can't take anymore pics. Sandisk Extreme 4 or Lexar 300X, you won't experience that.

And also i think, not sure if it's a myth, the same type of card, but a bigger capacity, will be slow. The Transcend 133x 8gb is ok, 16gb seems slower & 32gb is as slow as a normal card, doing 6mb/s. The 133x 32gb, becoz of the huge capacity, it loss it speed. I feel Transcend cards are slower than the rated speed against the competition. I have a Transcend 300x 4gb card, slower than my other Sandisk Extreme 4 mk1 4gb.

This part i forgot to mention your camera must be UDMA enabled. Nikon D300, D700, D3 are. Olympus E-3. Canon EOS1D, EOS1Ds etc the high end ones, i dunno abt 5D & 40D if they are. New 50D should be. Sony i dunno if A700 is, should be. A900 i guess it is.

A700 confirm is.
