Hi bro,

Does your box come with the Vector magnetics sticker as seen here http://www.vector-magnetics.com/index.html ?
Have you tried its performance? How does it compare to your other cards? So i guess shop warranty means its not through the distributor?

I wanted to get one piece from Best bargain also the other time but hesitated because I did not see the sticker. :bsmilie: Thanx in advance!

It is shop warranty, hence no sticker.
I tested the speed, it is slightly faster compare to kingston elite pro 133x 2G (1 sec faster in total of 8sec). Sorry, i don have other same capacity card to test. Considering the capacity is 4 times bigger, i am quite satisfied with the speed performance.

It is original sandisk, including rescue disk, nice card cover and porch. Personal opinion, 5 years warranty is as well as life time warranty, as 5 years later you might not be using it anymore. 8G would be something like 512MB card 5 years later. :dunno:

Thanx for the reply blackman :)

5 years shop warranty of no use if shop close down or "change" management. I feel 1 year shop warranty enough. Retailer at SLS shouldn't give false hope like such warranty to buyers, IMHO. I've seen enough number of shops there closed or "change" management in the last 14 years ;p.

Leaving us consumers, high and dry.:thumbsd:

Quite True. That is why I always buy those cards that have lifetime warranty.

Agree. :)
Consumers always being place high and dry. But we like to.
Imagine if there is no grey sets, no export sets, no 2nd hand sets... Everything are pricing high with lifetime warranty, we might just affortable for D80.
When $$ factor comes in, it is self preference if you want to take the risk and enjoy perhaps 20% discount.

Haha, no risk no gain;)

Hi all, what's the price of the Transcend CF 266x 4GB/8GB card? Are they better than the sandisk extreme III? thanks alot

Haha, no risk no gain;)

Nah, this type of risk really not necessary but I'll buy knowing what I'm risking with. For those who rely heavily on after-sales and warranty better off with Supplier/Macnufacturer Warranty - for that piece of mind.

So far I've never send for RMA on such item though so far only one 128Mb Sandisk bought years ago got corrupted. Just throw it away, didn't bother with warranty.

Saying that, anything happens within 6 month I'll seek a replacement, that's to short a time to conked out. But then I'll tell myself, "............serve you right, man". :embrass:

anyone knows whats the price of a Sandisk Extreme 4 4gb CF card ?

Thought I would share my recent incident of being fooled by parallel-imported Sandisk product Be5t B@rgain from Sim Lim Square.

Basically, bought a new Sandisk flash drive, later was spoilt,
returned to RMA, not entitled to immediate replacement,
have to wait one month or more for replacement.

Read my full story here if you are interested.

Lesson learnt:
Be5t B@rgain sells cheap because of parallel imports and do not provide the full benefits that Sandisk guarantees. Only official distributed Sandisk products from Vector Magnetics enjoy the full benefits.
Be5t B@rgain also sell parallel-imported Kingston products that are not covered by Convergent.
Official distributed products are just a few dollars more, available from many other retailers at Sim Lim Square.

Please be more prudent when spending your precious bucks on the latest and more expensive memory cards. You won't want to wait one month or more for a replacement, especially when you have important photography assignments. Neither do you want to lose your precious photographs. Avoid future disappointments by making the correct purchase.

Hope this post shed some light into making your next memory card purchase.

Hmmm, but Best Bargain the Kingston CF cards that they sell, on the receipt got put agent warranty leh... how to explain that?

A few questions to ask

1) Warranty Issue
If there is any problem, what must we provide to claim? Like receipt or what? Or can they trace from the card's serial no.? Need to register the card on website?
Now that pple talk abt card warranty, I remember my card is from Vector Magnetics (got official sticker) but I don't think I can find the receipt for it already. :( Should anything happen, no receipt can still claim? Btw, is it lifetime warranty? As stated on website?

2) New 30 Mb/Sec Sandisk Extreme III CF card
Anyone seen these in the shops? Are shops selling these now or still the old one? How much are they? Any price difference from the old one?

3) Card capacity for shooting RAW+Jpeg
Just wondering for those who shoot in RAW or RAW+Jpeg, what size card do they use?
I'm thinking whether I should get a 4Gb or 8Gb... looking at Sandisk Extreme III.

I had that too, but haven't really questioned their "agent".
The agent could be the foreign vendor that provides BB the stocks and not the local agent Convergent.
Well, they could just put Convergent instead though.
Furthermore, the letter on Kingston products that they pined up on the shop tells it all.
So much for paying for lifetime warranty!
Nevertheless, I pray my Kingston 133x CF which I got from them, does not fail on me! Won't wanna lose all the precious photos, just imagine they are vacation pictures or wedding photos!

As mentioned, Convergent at Albert Complex only recognizes officially distributed Kingston products when there is the Convergent sticker.

1. No necessary to have receipt if it is lifetime warranty. But not all memory products are lifetime warranted. Officially distributed Kingstons are lifetime warranted by Convergent. Basic Sandisks iirc are 2 years or 5 years warranty, but for Sandisk EXTREMEs are lifetime warranted. Always check for official stickers and can call Convergent (Kingston) or Vector Magnetics (Sandisk) to query. They are very nice people.

2. Haven't checked out that card.

3. Have been using Kingston 133x 2GBs. I am more worried of losing all shots in a high capacity card. I rather distribute the risk out to more smaller capacity cards. I shoot with Nikon D200 raw+JPEG gives me 119 shots iirc on my 2GB. You might need more if you are a keeper and only deletes at the end of the day. Furthermore, if you shoot fast action sequences, you can expect more shots and faster read/write speed will benefit by moving the photos from the camera buffer to the memory card. A faster speed also benefit during transferring of photos via a card reader. Imagine transferring 4GB of files at 1x speed!
Nevertheless, the weakest link is always the slowest device during the transfer... could be the camera usb port, card reader, memory card, computer usb port.

It has been verified in Hardwarezone and VRZone members that Kingston warranty bought from BB is by Convergent Systems at Albert Complex.

I've changed twice my Kingston microSD card bought from BB at Convergent Systems. I had to wait for nearly one month as Convergent System did not have stock of the microSD card.

I brought along my BB receipt to exchange the microSD card.

I had that too, but haven't really questioned their "agent".

My card is Extreme III so it has lifetime warranty.
Receipt and box are gone.
Must I register the card's serial number online or what?

Standard Operating Procedure for claims in Kingston Service Centre - Convergent Singapore

Please submit your defective product together with the packaging box and any receipt or identifying stickers if possible. Having product, packaging and receipt will help us identify your product's part number, origin and authenticity quickly and help us speed up your RMA process.

Convergent Systems will facilitate RMA for all Genuine Kingston memory modules. It is advisable to ensure that you purchase Kingston Value Memory modules from authorised dealers and to ensure that your purchases are genuine Kingston as a strict pre-requisite for warranty. We may have to spend some time to verify the authenticity of your product.

Convergent warrants all genuine Kingston products, but if we have to establish authenticity, there may be a delay in processing your warranty. We have to spend time to establish authenticity, and limited buffer stocks to do a one-to-one exchange, and because of this, we need to prioritize customers whose Kingston products are easily recognizable to be genuine.

If you bought a product not immediately recognized by us as a genuine Kingston product, we may not at this time be able to offer you a one-to-one exchange. However, if there are questions of authenticity, but you require us to help you claim your warranty from Kingston, we will take your defective part and send it back to Kingston. If it is verified to be a genuine Kingston part, you will get this part back normally within 2-3 weeks. If it is not verified as a genuine Kingston part, the part might be retained as evidence of legal infringement of Kingston's intellectual property rights, and you will be informed duly and may be asked to aid in Kingston's investigations.
If you require an immediate exchange for products not immediately recognizable to be a genuine Kingston product, we suggest that you go back to the retailer you purchased to ask for a replacement.

If you require any aid at any stage, you could send an email to kingstonwarranty@convergent.com.sg

Any Burnt/Physical Damage to Kingston products will be replaced/repaired/rejected based solely on manufacturer’s instructions.

I am rather convinced that the next Kingston product I buy, must have a Convergent sticker...
Though it is inappropiate for distributor to quote unofficial retailers, they do tell you if you ring them up.
