Assuming you have an array of Canon lenses, assuming you have $15k (via ToTo, 4D, Big Sweep, parents, etc). Which will you buy?

Have to choose between the 2. Give your reasons too. :)

1Ds sound nice ... read the review ... i like the faster AF

given a choice , put the money in the bank and wait for newer camera coming 4th quarter or 1st 2004

Good idea, I hadn't realised the NDA had expired.

At 4mp, 3fps, 10 frame burst depth, 2kg+ weight, and bigger than a DCS520, it'll be a killer camera!

1DS ??? no lah still prefer 1D...cos of the AF speed:rbounce:

i tot both are the same in terms of AF?

but i will prefer 1D....

11MP is too big for me to handle...even 6MP i also find it too big...how many RAW pic can a 512MB CF store?

you always use '21 consecutive frames at a fast speed of 8 fps'? i dun think so. i prefer 1Ds - 0% focal length multiplier.

yup yup it'll be perfect with that new 5kg Unicron f/2.4 15-35mm and the 4.5kg Optimus Prime 50mm f/0.7, and the new 680EX that *requires* a powerpack (cross-sling or backpack BP-E1000)

mine is the other way... dun mind shooting at 6mp incamera and I think *I* am not fast enough to warrant 8 fps anyway... and I am wide angle fan, over tele...

Depends on usage. For studio usage, of course the choice will be EOS 1Ds. However, if I were to be a photojournalist, where image size is not paramount, I'd get the 1D.

The 1Ds stores about upto 38 RAW images on a 512MB (without jpeg) Transcend 30x CF. The 10D Stores upto 80 RAW images (with small jpeg) on the same card. The D60 reads at 66 but also stores the same number as the 10D.

but think about it, all you really need is a PnS Bumble Bee 50mm f/1.8... :D

seems like 2/3 of the people here like the 1Ds... over the 1D...

Probably because for us, image size and quality is more important than "getting that shot". Most of us have time to compose the shot properly instead of blazing away.

Read another way, for us, we really don't do anything where not having 8fps will result in us not "getting that shot". In which case, you shouldn't even be bothering with the 1D.

Except for reproductive organ driven lust to be able to fire at 8fps.

In that case, then you don't need either. The ultimate camera will then be a 4x5 or larger camera. 0.001 fps. And vastly superior image quality to the 1Ds. At a fraction of its cost.

Actually, people don't buy 8fps cameras to blaze away. They buy it because they need 8fps. Or at least, they should.

if only we can dismantle 1Ds, and place the impt parts on a F100, or

DYI camera ... selling parts here and there, if the idea works, it will sure make business ...

No lah...person with the fastest fps and mega-pixle count gets bragging rights. Period.
