No.. it's the 1m mark. The lens can focus down to 0.5m, but mine got stuck when it reaches 1m.
this is cool man, i think nikon should employ you to be their technician...
Thanks for yhe infor hope mine buy from friends is ok
RIP..
No, it's not going to rest in peace with me around.. The lens still works...except 1) no VR, 2) beyond 150mm zoom because the zoom encoder contacts are broken, the cpu could not know what the focal length it's zoom to, so the AF could not lock.. Otherwise, the optics and the aperture control are still ok. ;p Will see what NSC can do.
Oops, I thought you're referring to the clearance :embrass:
its designed to fail.. so they can make more :bheart:
Is this lens made in Japan or Thailand?
Kind of disappointment plus scary. Imagine if all the new zoom lens that made around the same time, applies the same design.... It could mean thousands of dollars down the drain. There's perhaps nothing can a service centre could do beside just do a parts replacement. The problem will never go away if the design dun change. The failure will still be the same, the MTBF will still remain. This is Engineering.
Thanks isisaxon for the report ! So sorry about your lens. I just got my 18-200 VR, I will be very careful when I zoom now.
Hey, hey, dun worry too much la.
1 You have got 1 year warranty.
2 Due to continuous improvement on their product and getting feedback from their service centres, it is unlikely you would face with the same problem.
These days, if you buy something from reputable companies, chances are that you seldom get to repair during warranty.
Is this len made in Thailand? this is problem with out source our product to get cheaper price. shame on nikon. good job of csi isisaxon.
