Hi, how does the front (lens mount area) of the D600 feels like? i shoot landscape and long exposures often thus will be mounting the 14-24 f2.8 on it with tripod for long period of time. Can the body actually support the weight of the lens since the front is not alloy like the D800?

I don't think there's a problem with that and I'm sure they tested it with different Nikon lenses.

I do that with my old D70 all the time. No problems at all. The 14-24mm f/2.8 is hardly a heavy lens. Try the exotic telephotos. That's when you need to mount the lens onto the tripod.

It is still a lot more expensive compared to the US price.

US$2,096 = S$2,670

Most fresh stocks are going for S$2,900 - S$2,950. While the premium isn't as high as the Nikon D800 when the latter was first launched, it is still a 10% premium, and something that I am not pleased with.

Sg2700 add 7% gst is close to $2900...perhaps the forumer who posted missed out the gst

The lens mounts on D800 and D600 are identical and the 14-24mm is not considered a heavy lens, relatively speaking.

It seemed that the D600 sold in the BnS purchased from Malaysia. Better check with buyer first.

$850 to be exact...but if compare rrp against rrp, it's prob $1600 diff (4488 vs 2900) which is quite significant.... once street price for d600 comes down, the gap will be clear.

May I know which store selling the D800 now? Seems like everywhere still out of stock forD800.

d3s has a louder solid 'clack' sound. the newer cameras shutter sound are quite 'polite'.

I dun know abt the hype on the 'Clack" sound.
I feel so paiseh everything I shoot and forum or conference. hahaha

Too loud... at times I can event hear the echo if the wall is not well cluttered.
