Hello everybody from a new member.
I use a D3 and my current AF-S Micro Nikkor 60/2.8 doesn't satisfy me for portrait photography and medium to long distances shots.
I would like to know if the ZF 50/2 is suitable for general photography and mostly for portaiture?
Thank you for your feed back.

To me, my 50Makro is suitable for portraits...

60 is a nice length for portraits. How come no good for portraiture ? If u already hv 60, maybe shud think about the cream puff voigt 58 1.4 SLII. Best of both worlds

The day was gloomy and never expect such a beautiful sunset:

Guys need some advise... Will u sell off the Zf 85f1.4 for a 100f2? :dunno:

Although only 15mm apart, I II find 100mm frequently too tight. Focal length and subject matter more than the arri design. I wud save the money for more ZF maybe coming out at sep photokina. there are several contax zeisses still missing from ZF lineup.

Same thoughts here.

Played a bit with Zeiss 100/2 + Nikon D3 this sunday :)

Andree :)

hi Andree, which do u find hv smoother bokeh at f2. the 85mm or 100mm ?

Hi FortNine, I think ZF 85/1.2 have a smoother bokeh at F2

the 85 1.4 u mean ? for a moment there, I tot zeiss released a 1.2. there was one released many years ago under contax. there was also a 55 1.2. the sonnars and tessars are still missing from the ZF series.

Ups...!!! sorry, yes It's 85/1.4 >_<
i wish they have 85/1.2 :p

Hello Coolsigg,
Thank you for the feed back. I'll let you know about my impressions after the purchase.

Hello FortyNine, Thank you. I don't really like the rendition of 60 2.8 for portraiture! I read in Photozone that the Voigt 58 1.4 SLII overexposes by 2/3! Is that right?
From all that I gathered, I believe that I shouldn't go wrong by getting the 50/2...

its a "perfect" lens. can't go far wrong. :)

the voigt guy says 1st batch of 581.4 hv this overexposure issue. all sent back to factory to re-program chip FOC. 2nd batch onwards okay. Personally, think 58 1.4 is a zeiss in "disguise". Its manufactured on the same ZF line. Cosina copied many secrets from Zeiss.

I remember a few pages ago someone saying Voigt is "better" than Zeiss blah blah blah...:dunno:

but having seen pictures from someone using Voigt 58, I still think Zeiss is the best...just my 2cts worth of opinion...:)

how can anything be better than zeiss ? :bsmilie: even long time zeiss-rival photographers ( i.e Leica) also " kow-tow " to zeiss.

I wish they introduce a f1.2 though. then we'll have the fastest, sharpest, baddest lenses in the SLR universerse !

haha, i have no experience with Leica, hence, no comments on that. If Zeiss introduce the F1.2, I will change my system to Nikon...muahahaha!
