Dude, I saw that you mentioned that you have a Bigon 28 f2.8, and you do mention about the 90mm f2.8 here. I get the impression that you are referring to the G mount lenses. The lenses that are at discussion are the C/Y mount lenses. I don't believe that there is a 90mm from Contax in C/Y mount, from Tamron yes. Is my observation correct?

Correct! They're the Carl Zeiss lenses used in the Contax G series. But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't the mount that is used in the Contax G series called the T*-mount?

Nope, they are commonly called the Contax G (as in G1 or G2) mount. T* refers to the coating on the lenses uniquely found in Zeiss lenses. You won't be able to adapt your G mount lenses for use on SLR bodies.

Contax G lenses are excellent! IMO, they are better than the Leica counterpart except for the 35mm. Wonder wat will it be like if I can shoot G lenses on 1Ds !!!

Parchiao:
So are u still keeping the G system and the T3?

Ouch! That's unfortunate. Thanks for the info. Is it physically/technically impossible, or there is just no adapter out in the market yet?

The guy running the www.dslrexchange.com website said he's just started working on the adapter for the Nikon mount. I better clarify with him, whether it adapts the Contax Zeiss C/Y-mount lenses, or the G-mount.

Keeping only the T3. In fact, I just got a replacement from HK about a week ago. Sold the G2 as I failed to learn how to maximise it. Now just using an Aria and a host of C/Y mount lenses on top of the T3.

BTW, can you not use a split image focusing screen with the 20D? I toyed with the idea of buying a 350D, but decided not to when I found out that there isn't an option to change the focusing screen on it, and I am not too fond with the idea of zone focusing.

Actually all the dslr from all manufacturer shld be able to change the focussing screen one.....Just did the split screen focussing screen change to my d60 and now I am very happily using my ziess lenses with it. If i am not wrong, those dslr that is using the aps sensor size ccd/cmos, their focussing screen shld b smaller than the full frame or those with the 1.3 crop factor ones. From what I know, canon D30, D60, 10D, 300D have successful cases of pple changing their focussing screen....refer to this Its just a matter of measuring the dimension of the original screen and then size down the split screen to the exact size only

The split screen work something like how you focus those rangefinder but a little bit different. In a split screen, at the center portion, you'll see two semi circular "split window" at which if the object you are aiming at is not in focus, the two semi circular "split window" will never match to form a focus image. Once these two semi circular "split window" is match or shld I say form a focus image, the object at which you are aiming at will be more or less focus.(I say more or less focus becoz I tried manual focusing using the split screen and sometimes when you switch back to AF straight after you manual focus at the same object, at the same distance and everything, the AF of the cam will move abit instead of staying put. Think this is becoz of the error cause by our human eyes but strangely, sometime the above thing do not happen at all and the AF will just stay put, hence meaning that your focussing is on the spot)

If you wish to try out the split screen, I dun mind helping you guys to do the mod. Other than the split screen, there are also other screen which you can try like the mirco prism screen and etc....as 4 the grid screen, I have a bit of idea on how to do it but not now....too busy with some certain other thing now(hehe ORD bussiness :D ) If you guy wish to take a look at the split screen mod which I did, I don't mind meeting up and let you guys have a hand on on it.

quite true esp for the contax Fu series....damn hard to find.....went down to CP, AP, MSColor, TCW, all either say no stock or they don't carry in part liao and the most funny thing is that most of them tot I was looking for canon split screen and advised me to go down to canon service centre to buy it. Actually you still can get the split screen from a few places in singapore like fotographic and camera hospital but price wise is a bit on the high side.....50-60 buck and might have to wait for a few days. If anyone of you need the contax FU-4 split screen, feel free to contact me, I got lobang that is only slightly more ex than your above mentioned price but can't tell you where coz made a promise not to say out ;)

That expensive har? Then I supposed my reaction to the salesman quoatingh me the price would be a loud "FU!". :bsmilie:

What a bummer. I was looking through the Bob Atkins forum and found out that there is no split image focusing screen for the 20D. There is however an option for the 1D.

Well.. title of this thread is misleading...
All images are shot with 1Ds. Earlier test images shot with 20D has been deleted away, as well as my 20D.
Will be ordering my EC-B soon!

Hey
WeeKH

thanks for sharing the pics.
nice kids.

I happen to have the CZ 50 1.4 and the canon ef 50 1.4
Too lazy to compare them.
I simply like both.

One characteristic about CZ T:xmas: lenses.
The colours, esepcially the reds leap out at you.
This is evident in negative and especially in Fuji velvia slide film.

CZ 50mm f1.4

It had been a busy weekend having received the CZ 50 f1.4 and the toylens Lensbaby. Don't know which lens to play...

Anyway shot some pictures with the CZ 50 f1.4. Not as impressed as I had with the CZ 28mm. Perhaps the Canon EF 50 f1.4 is also a very good lens. Have yet to shoot more pictures with the CZ 50.

I've been shooting the CZ 28 wide open most of the time. Recently shot it with flash and stopped it down and this lens keeps impressing me...

G lenses (except 35mm) are almost universally praised by everyone. Yet it seems that many people are trying to sell their G systems. Anyone know why?
