Z5 or Z3?

Go and check around all camera service centers and repair shops if you know the people well. You will know that most cameras sent there are due to users' own accidents, or users' problems.

F20 is a good camera. However, it is better for you to try it yourself first.
Z5 is also good if you know how to use it; but you seems to hate it.:dunno:

so confused about all the camera ... all seems same... is not sharp... :(

Hi Chery08,

There are pros and cons in each camera, if you want shart pictures, low noise and good low light senstitvities, then the only way out is to go for DSLR, but then it is more expensive and bulky. If you want small and convenient, you can only expect reasonable picture quality. Most P&S camera has its limitations. That is why I own few cameras:

1. Nikon D80 with 18-200mm VR lense + SB800 + SD8A, I use this setup when I want to take good pictures like friends wedding, company events, sure good pictures and never mis any instance.

2. Nikon D40 with Kit lense + SB400 when I want good pictures but not in very demanding situation.

3. Fuji Z5 for carrying around all the time for convenient, And also as back up for my D80 when I shoot for my friends wedding.

Sorry to make this remark here: most of us forget about the reason of using the camera, unless you are an artist who want to show your piece of art. Most of the time we take photos for memory sake, if you look at the picture generally and don't do pixel peeping (blow up to full size and look at each pixels), you will enjoy the photos. the problem is that, we got into situation of looking for perfections and instead of looking at the information, we are zooming into the technical detail of each picture.

For examle: take a photo of your love one, display the photo on the screen (fit the picture in the screen and don't do 100% view), look at the person in the photo and enjoy the beauty of the person, you will not notice those tiny pixel noise. The problem today is that you are taking photos of objects that are not of your interest, and you are looking at the detail of each pixels, you will not be happy, until you buy the S5Pro with Nikon 17-55mm F2.8 lense, but then you will complain that it is too heavy.

You will not be happy with any of the pocket size camera, becaus each of then has its limitation, whatever model you buy, instead of appreciating its strenght, you will be unhappy with its limitations, and you will be searching again.

No offence and just my 2 cents worth of personal opinion.

 well said. there is no perfect cam. buy sth which are comfortable bt of cos nt sth with bad quality. ok ok will be sufficient for normal use.

hmmm guess u're right.. maybe now i will just choose something tat's right for my pocket n design n color~~
most likely i'll get T20 or Fx10 or Fx30

My experience of Panasonic P&S camera is that, it has good sharpness due to Leica lense and OIS (Optical Image stabilizer) lense, rich colour pictures, low light performance not so good, but then there is this thing call "flash". You will find limitation when taking photos in a big room that does not have enough lighting, it will be hard to take good photos in such situation because the flash is not enough, when under such situation, you will miss your Z5. Know its strength and limitation, use it to its fullest, you will be happy with it. when in doubt, buy both.;p

hmmm i dunno abt this... even when i use Z5 with flash.. it see doesn't impress me that much... i'm happy with my bro's Panasonic fx8.. but it's discountinued... how abt T20? is it good? the SA printed out and compared with a Canon yesterday.. seems like the color is much better tan canon

finally got myself a panasonic fx10.... tried their night shots ... seems ok...

That is precisely the main problem of most ppl and my friend. They are neglecting the contents of the photograph. I told this to one of my friend the same thing, cos he was lamenting the cam that I have brought. Commenting that i have brought the wrong cam, blah blah... What is the point of having a Superb Camera or HD Video Cam, when you are just shooting scenery and stranger. These contents won't bring back any memories or laughter. Loooking at those old, non-related picture will only make you want to complain further (on the camera or your skill). Or probably, my skill has not reached the stage where i am able to relate to the shots(Souls or emotions) that i have taken.

Just my thought.

Now that you own a FX10, start understanding the working of the camera. Shoot a lot of photos. Dont think of any other camera now. Enjoy.:)

To further explain what I mean; look at this photo taken in 1996 where I own the first generation of digital camera.

To unrelated people, when they see this picture, the first impression will be: bad picture! so blur! But to the father, I enjoy this old photo, it still trigger my memory of how they look 11 years ago. But if this were be the test shot to test my camera, it is definitely been trushed long long time ago. Just to complete the story, this is how they look today.

DSC_10058_temp.jpg

It is still poorly taken, but when I see the photo, it is the person and environment that I see, not the picture quality.

For professional who take photos of unrelated people/objects, they are focusing on the picture quality. For ordinary people taking photo of daily life, it is the content that is important. Of course if the picture is clear will be bonus.

Therefore be happy and shot, but one word of caution: make sure that you have proper backup of the photos; during the film camera days, we print out every photo, with digital photos, we keep them in the hard disk, and when you change computer, format the HDD, or worse HDD crash, there is tendency of losing the valuable photos. My accumulation of family digital photos has been with me and never lost, dispite I have changed many notebooks alreay. The key is always have few backup copies.

Cheers.

hmmm the point of capturing the moment is right but ... for me... not sure it apply to others too... i will be sad the moment i capture is blur or turn out not as nice....sometimes even tend to regret that i should have got a better cam or took more so that i can choose a better one.. (for those film camera) so i guess.. getting a cam u're happy with should be the most important factor? if u like the camera.. even how lousy others said it is ... u'll still be happy with it..

*tot of trying out samsung too since it's made in Korea and got alot of cute frames and functions :p*
is it a good enough cam to use for fun? tot of buying it as a 2nd cam..

Totally agree with poh6702.:)

Just a couple of weeks ago, dig up my old photos that I shot in film. Scanned them and now they are in jpg format. Despite of the off colours and being somewhat grainy, i love to to look at them, a photo of my wife that when we were still dating close to 20 years ago.;p

Hi chery08,

Glad that you've gotten yourself a new panasonic fx10 and happy with it. Why not play with it for a while and get familiar with it first, you can always get the 2nd hand Samsung (btw you didn't mention the model) later.

:) yeah .. i'm happy with my fx10 now.. my new pinky... :p
won't be getting a cam so soon.. also need to save for it
hmm for the samsung model.. it's i70

Gald that you find your ideal cam:cheergal: , since this is Fujifilm sub forum, you started this thread as Z5 or Z3, you should continue your discussion about the FX10 in the Panasonic sub forum.
