hyper P and hyper M is also my Av mode... :bsmilie:

(btw i think i'm wrong that K10D cannot do the AE lock thing.. it might be that K10D cannot input ev comp in M mode.. got to check later tonight.)

Hmm, I've never used the AE lock before. Usually go for the green button with my manual lenses. Unfortunately, it usually meters 2 stops over. :(

With the K20D you can dial in exposure compensation in M mode, which is useful when using legacy lenses.

aha, confirmation!

baracus.. time to upgrade, for the sake of your favourite 135mm lens. ;)

does exposure compensation works in in manual mode in k-7? i tried -5, 0, +5 but the photos' histograms looks the same. :dunno:

did u press the green button after changing the ev comp each time? if you didn't then the shutter speed didn't change as the camera did not re-meter the scene.

K10D and K20D seem to have problem metering w/ manual lenses. But K7 seems to have solved the problem ;) Time to upgrade :bsmilie:

Notti ah you guys, keep pestering people to upgrade. :sticktong:

Nothing a little turn of the dial can't fix. But changing exposure on the fly during Cosfest was good practice, despite the occasional overblown highlights. (Which I abused in PP later on) :bsmilie:

About 500 shutter clicks later..

2nd take on the K-7:
* Electronic level works very well. Only issue is sometimes I forget to check it! And get skewed images again. Operator error here..

* Shutter is so smooth, dampened and quiet, that I really believe it reduces the vibration/noise and gives me more confidence in being discreet -- important for my style of shooting.

* Design/handling/button layout: A joy to use. No complaints at all. 100% VF, I love. The SD card slot is still kinda tight, but I got the hang of getting the card out fast already.

* Noise at high ISO: Acceptable, to me. Overly smoothened images have always seemed artificial to me anyway, unless in certain contexts and for certain effects.

* LV: Seldom used. Not used to it yet.

* Video: Stunning depth of field cinema-style effect, with the right lenses and aperture. Plays cleanly and smoothy on full-screen on 20" iMac. Only shot relatively still things and people though.

* Simply the perfect camera so far. :)

anyway would like to check what is the image finishing tone that you guys used? ie the saturation, hue, high/low key adj, constrast, sharpness and toning. i find that the k7 jpeg output to be a tad too oversaturated..

Always shot RAW, so can't comment.

Try adjusting the various options for JPEG? Cos what may seem saturated to you may be ok to others, or vice versa. So it's really rather subjective..

i have tried the K-7... hands-on cos my uncle bought it

i am very pleased... pentax made a great cam

Guys.
Any of you as irritated by the mode dial lock button?
If we only use P mode, then its ok but it you want to constantly change the mode to suit the conditions, then having to press and turn the dial becomes a hassle. I wonder if the service centre can disable the lock? :)

In anycase, an off topic here. Anyone knows if its possible to purchase a shoulder strap that you can attach to your tripod, so you can sling it like a rifle?
Thanks

OT: Ur tripod is wat brand? There's some Matin tripod straps but more for manfrotto's which has a tripod hook.

Having the lock is better than occasion accidental switch to another mode .....It happned to me.

however accidental shots part of photography magic.
