To add to the list...

  • You have to return your broken socks to exchange for a new pair at the clothing store, and have to sign on your kit exchange form (1204?).
  • You know what a 1206 is.
  • Your non-muslim combat ration has canned braised pork, canned baked beans, lemonade power, chocolate bar and the dog biscuit. I donlt remember what the muslim version contains....probably curry chicken?
  • You know what Temasek Green is.
  • You saw 2 kinds of boots in use...the older kind with the shiny toe cap and the newer kind with the same texture all over.
  • You S1 office has an "instant messaging" machine called the Teletype
  • The "state of the art" PC systems used in the various battallion offices are IBM PC XT or AT (8 or 12 MHz in turbo mode) with 20 MB hard drives, uses external Bernoulli drives for data backup and 9 or 24 pin dot matrix printers.
  • You have see carbon copy paper.
  • After you ROD you become a "Reservist".

One thing will probably not change, regardless of your year of service...you keep hearing more senior people telling you how much more "siong" army is in their days. :)

You understand that "starch" is not just another carbohydrate food component. It is used to make your parade Number 3 and pants could stand up straight without you wearing them !
