X-Pro 1 User Group

Vengels: Yeap, true enough, guess I have to practice more and more..

Eleveninth: I havent got any voigt yet, So i really dont know, but then Mr Ho from Chiif told me that if voigt lens were to mount on to the Bessa R2A, R3A just set to A mode and can take pics liao.. So my guess is that its only compatible with their Bessa rangefinder, which is why it can do af? 1 thing which sets me back is the film..... not digital.. which is why this is the reason I am looking at a Digital "rangefinder" :) I would not want to get the Leica M9's couse it will cost me a bomb.. lolx

i looking for Nikon mount adapter for X-Pro, any recommendation/suggestion? ;)

Hi everyone,

Bro you have not bought it right? Why not wait for X-E2 to arrive as it will have improvement on AF speed and accuracy. I was with D70 and progressively upgraded to D700 & D800 since 2006, I never expect I will move away from Nikon to Fuji. My last D800 and few good lens was sold recently and my dry box now only contain X-Pro1 & XF lens.

If you are Full frame DSLR user, it will take a while for you to adapt and accept the smaller mirrorless camera. One thing I miss about DSLR since switching is the OVF, speed, accuracy of focusing & range of good and fast zoom lens it has like 70-200mm VRII, 24-70mm, 14-24mm etc.
One thing i will miss about X-Pro1 if I switched back to DSLR will be the weight, portability and the excellent XF prime lens. In term of image quality, besides the different in pixel from D800, every other aspect from X-Pro1 meet my expectation. I do not have to do much adjustment to picture produced by the X-Pro1 in software as compared to D800 to get the colour I want. The colour produced from X-Trans Sensor i must say is superb IMO.

Great advice. :)

I was doing a bit of research. I would say the 18 mm F2 doesn't meet my expectation for landscape in terms of image quality?

How do you all go around it?

If you do landscape, there are few options. For auto focus, there are zeiss 12mm, Fuji xf14mm and what eleveninth recommend the xf10-24mm which will be out around dec and early 14. For manual focus, you can use your existing nikon lens with adapter, but I feel that it defeat the purpose for having such a big lens. For IQ, you can search in Flickr for keyword such as x-pro1, xf14mm, zeiss 12mm Fuji x mount etc. Looking through sample picture will be more convincing. Some may have uploaded full Res picture for your pixel peeking.

Thanks. I did a quick research. Seems like the IQ for 14 mm is better than the 18 mm. :)

But for the files i have seen, much of them do not have the bit depth. Can i say that the X-Pro 1 and XE-1/2 are suited more for street photography?

In honest opinion, in term of DOF & dynamic range, unarguably DSLR & FF still a winner. It is matter of what extend, acceptance level and trade off with other factors. I dont quite agree that it is suitable only for street photography as street photography need 'depth' as well. Other factor play an important role in the image quality such as lens, technicques, filters and post production etc.

When you browse through flickr, I am sure you spotted some good photos? Why not you do a search in Flickr for 'D800 landscape', i am sure you will find most photo better than photo taken with Fuji X but not all? When you look at the photo you take with your D800, you have to ask if they are better than photos taken by others with Fuji X camera or even other brand cameras.

Don't get me wrong. I am impressed w this camera esp the 35 n 60 mm lens. Just trying to understand it.

I can see how the 35 and 60 mm easily meet commercial standards but a bit disappointed w the wide angles and bit depth. It's something that I must learn to accept lor. Also asking around how you guys overcome it. :)

"If your pictures are not good enough, you are not photoshopping enough." :D

Haha... My pictures are not good and so are my photoshopping skills. Thats why need a camera handy YET being able to recover the bit depth. haha... :bsmilie:

Oh. Medium format are 16 bit. 35 mm Nikon n Canon are at 14 bit. I think M4/3 are 14 or lower.

When u under or over expose w a higher bit depth, you can recover them easily. This is even w the jpegs of medium format. The files can take lots of thrashing w/o being 'broken'.

For landscaping, recovery of the shadows n highlights are important.

If I were to get the X-Pro 1, I need to adjust n adapt myself n not over expect. Having said that, it does bring back the fun back to photography :)

I just don't want to keep so many cameras leh. Haha
