<wonglp> Traveling with my mirrorless pen

interesting fisheye shot.

Thanks for dropping by, glad you liked it!

Here's another one to share which I had been trying to take but never had a wide enough lens, this lens certainly can! EPL1+Samyang Fisheye 7.5mm f3.5

Brother, Wa again on holidays???? Good shots.....convinced me to leave my heavy stuff at home and bring this EP3 next month on my SL trip.

In Shanghai this week, it still freezing cold like 8oC! Surprise that this time of the year it's hasn't warmed up yet, I was under dressed, numbed fingers as a result...

EPL1+Samyang Fisheye 7.5mm F3.5 MFT. 3 shots exposure blended. Been using a lot of this lens this days. Like the way some of the impossible angles can be taken with the lens. Sometimes, my hair or finger get caught in the picture too:embrass:

Bro, work lah, holidays i would be shooting daytime liao, was a short trip, but had too nights alone to shoot. It was cold and I had no gloves, terrible feeling to have numbed fingers, had to go for warm shelters at times. Ill prepared;p EP3 is sufficient, in fact, was shooting with 9-18 and FE lens mostly.

Poisonous this lens!

Hi Hope107fm, thanks for dropping, glad that you like the lens. It's rather small too, has sliver and black and a photo below if that helps

Thanks bro for the comment, FE lens makes many framing possible;)

Here's one shot shot like 3m away but still manage to capture an extreme wide angle to show the number of luggages this gentleman is looking after and the reflection on the glass.

Bro, judging from your night photos...you seem enjoy working.... See you back safe.

Thank you sir, back safe & sound:)

Here's one non-fisheye shot with E-PL1+9-18mm+4 stop ND filter. A 50sec shot, saw the nice clouds moving just had to take it, the boat below was a little distracting but unavoidable at the time the clouds were weaving through the skies...by the time the ships were lesser so did the clouds. Some level and curve adjustments, WB & sharpening.

#97 Light trails @ Lu Jia Zhui (陆家嘴）

E-PL1+Samyang Fisheye 7.5mm MFT. Wanted to try black card technique but fingers too cold to do it, quite a bit of blown highlights, though the light trails I think is pretty nice...C&C welcome:)

My family brought a whole lot of joy to me, one of it is photography. Started off with a humble Oly Dslr E410 to take my daughter several years ago, and then switched totally to mirrorless last year due to heavy work travel and too much kid's stuff to carry on weekends

Been following adrewine's awesome thread alot, inspired by his shots as well, so picked up some courage to start a thread here.

Through some pictures below, would like to share some experience the Oly Pen cameras had brought to me as well as the realm of magnificent manual lenses. C&C are very much welcome. Thanks for viewing.

Nice photos. Now you make me even more determined to retry the m4/3 system. I had the EP1 for a while, bought it to Korea and I was very unhappy with the slow autofocus. Sold it after I came back. And then, now I dread lugging my DSLR around with ANOTHER heavy bag in tow which carries my kid's diapers, clothes, blah blah you get it. And mirror less is the way to go for me to cut down on the bulk and heft of normal DSLRs.

This thread is inspiring! Thanks!

Hi Nivlek, congrats on your new born and nice comments! I can totally relate to the diapers changing and wet tissues!! The slow AF is kinda a problem in the past (including the EPL1) but with the recent EP3/EPL3/EPM1 and soon to be launched OM-D, its way better. Certainly the AF for panasonic cameras are also very good, I wouldn't split hair between the 2 brands if Single-AF is an issue. Continuous - AF I think still has some to catch up to DSLR, though OMD is slated to have improved. Hope that helps, let me know if you have further questions. :)

No new born la. Already 18months old. Anyway I am just waiting for the OMD EM5 to be released and check it out. Not really keen on Panasonic camera bodies

Of my 6 days trips, woke up 3 times for sunrise, twice as mentioned previous post was cloudy and rainy. On the last day in Bali, decided to go to Sanur for sunrise, so had to drag my lazy bum at 430AM, as I heard the sunrise views there is pretty awesome. And luck was on my side this time :)

#72 Sunrise at Sanur

The first shot I took once I set my foot in Sanur without using any GND filters as I was too excited when I saw the colors, I should have been there a while earlier...Lifted some shadows.

EPL1+9-18mm, ienhance feature in camera.

I see. I have never used GND and after seeing your photos, I am a believe of GND. Can you recommend which GND to get? Soft? 0.6? 0.9? Which ND do you have normal with you? 0.6?

was looking at #72 I actually didn't use gnd but other shots I have. Typically I use soft edge for most shots. And hard edge for define horizon like water reflection shots. 0.6 or 0.9 depends on the existing contrast. Sometime I stack them to achieve more, and if still not enough, I do bracket shots with Gnd. General rule of thumb from the image taken the bottom should not be brighter than top half. I'm really quite a noob when using Gnd, so I'm glad you like it. You can see "edutilos", "some form of human" thread on this forum, they have many amazing shots which I learn alot from.

That said I'm also vastly keen on a "black card" technique which "scintillation" uses alot also in this part of forum. Do check them out.

Yups. I was not actually referring to #72. Probably click the wrong photo to quote from but there are many that you either use CPL or GND. Amazingly nice photos OOC.

So I have decided to get myself a Cokin P holder + filters to play with. Hmmm, I notice there is no vignetting for the cokin on the 9-18?

no vignette if just one filter at 9mm, but once stacked will have slight. Yup, ooc jpegs are great from Olympus, has been one big strength as well as skintones.

Just stumbled onto this thread, nice series Wong!
