Thanks for the tips... will give the low light focusing technique a try. Kind of weird that they omit the AF illuminator. It is almost a standard feature in most if not all compacts. Wonder why Oly leave this out.

Yeah, I think I will pass on the VF2 for now... maybe wait until the price is more reasonable. In the meantime, save the $$ for a wide angle. Is the Oly 9-18mm a good lens? Saw there is another wide angle with constant aperture from Panasonic 7-14mm f4.

9-18 is smaller lighter, though not as sharp as 7-14 but it's a lens I wouldn't mind carrying out on trips. 7-14 is a very sharp lens but the price is more expensive, at 7mm though it's much wider and this can be fun yet difficult to use. Also 7-14 doesn't really allow filters in front, for landscape shooting can be restrictive. On epl1 would really recommend 9-18 coz there's in cam corrections as well which 7-14 is not. There's still some proprietary in each brand.

Next, doing a series on Phuket.

#35 Khao Lak, Le Meridien Hotel entrance, Phuket.

Made a trip to Khao Lak on my boy's 2nd month last Feb! Wife & I needed a long awaited break, with my mum in law and 1 kid, 1 infant, we went Phuket! Also excuse for me to test out my first Pen E-P1, it has possibly the best color so far for my eyes. Decided to be a little more adventurous to self drive to Khao Lak Le Meridien, about 1.5hrs drive from Phuket airport with a little help from a dysfunctional GPS. It was easy to find though. Le Meridien Khao Lak is really nice and very child friendly, you can "dump" kids >4 yrs old iirc at the kids playroom, where they have activities & food that can keep kids busy. Not to mention great service, from nice reception with welcome drink to friendly smiles throughout. We booked 2 connecting family rooms which is really great. Best thing was, didn't really see much Singaporeans, a short getaway without feeling too much at home, lotsa european ard:)

#36 Beach at Le Meridien, Khao Lak

#37 (PP'd) & 38 (No PP) Sunset Khao Lak, Le Meridien

Sunset at khao lak by wonglpnn, on Flickr

Sunset Le Meridien Khao Lak by wonglpnn, on Flickr

You can easily see great sunset here! Khao Lak is so different from hustle and bustle of Patong Beach Phuket. And the beach here is secluded and beach chairs are for free. All shots E-P1 + 14-54mk2.

The tsunami 2004 boxing day, a day not to forget, Khao Lak was badly hit, I'm glad they managed to restore it well. Khao Lak Le Meridien was not spared. Hope this Khao Lak set will encourage some to go to Khao Lak soon :)

One last one from Phuket.

#41 Patong Beach, not a beach I like because it's a public beach and need to pay for everything including the chair. Though, it's amazing again to see the restoration works completed almost within a year after 2004 tsunami. E-P1 + 14-54mm MK2

Hi Geikou,

Glad you like it, thanks for visiting again! Haven't updated for a while, one in Hongkong taken in May this year, trip to Hongkong is more for family and kids, so here's one of the Disneyland, albeit an evil looking one.

#42 Hongkong Disney 'Evil" Castle

It was rainy season in Hongkong, and skies are gloomy, so shot was taken with dramatic tone art filter from E-PL2+20mm/1.7.

Decided to jump from Hongkong shots to Bangkok, since I'm here this week on business, went out for some shoots last night. Was a little hesistant to go near Chao Praya, but after checking with hotel people it's seems safe enough. Sky was gloomy, some bad storms expected end of week, i really hope things will go well for Bangkok & Thailand. It's sad to see Ayuthaya in such bad flood, including Nikon factory, hope to see lives getting back to normal.

#43 Shops Tha Tien Pier, calm before storm? Do hope the storm doesn't come as forecasted.

Can't do much here, except to buy some small souvenirs to help them. Taken with E-PL1+45/1.8, straightened.

#46 Wat Arun, temple of the dawn.

Shot was taken at a restaurant and pub at The Deck, Arun residence, they serve italian food on ground floor, but if you want to have beer, light snacks and good view, it will be on 3rd floor. http://www.arunresidence.com/
Wat Arun is lit up from 630pm onwards, but usually the gloden hour will be over. Still nice nonetheless. E-PL1+Nokton 25/0.95 with tripod, cropped away a distracting boat.

Nice capture....

Thanks for visiting again:) here's one hope you will like it:

#51 Motorcycle Taxi Rider, Bangkok

Commuting short trips for local Thai, operate usually near to BTS/subways exits. A quick way for short distance in the hustle and bustle of BKK, they jet through jams way faster and easier than tuk tuk or even BTS. E-PL1+45/1.8

Last one of the night:

#51 Victory monument, Bangkok

Victory monument is a military monument shaped like a sword, and a very busy traffic hub, for buses interchanges, and night market. No PP, E-PL1+9-18mm.

Was in Beijing this week, just to share a couple shots. Only had time for this stadium and a morning at Tian Tan.

#52 Beijing National Stadium - Bird Nest Olympics Stadium

Not much introduction to this stadium, rush down to the stadium after checking in hotel, and was lucky to catch the right moment. Some tonal adjustment and crop. E-PL1+9-18mm.
