Will be sharing some shots of Jeju soon, we spent 3 nights in Jeju and self drive with English speaking GPS (not English menu), quite easy to use if you can find the telephone numbers of the place you want to go. Mostly it was ok to find it. The GPS in Korea are very nice and informative, and Jeju is very nice to drive as the traffic is still manageable, unlike in Seoul. One thing I like in South Korea is the maps and tour brochures that you can pick up in airport, hotels, etc are very informative and helpful. It even has sections that tells you what's useful if you are traveling alone, as a couple, with old folks and young family. We did some planning from Singapore but when we arrive here, the brochures changes much of our planning. So much so that I still keep some of them in case friends need it next time (I often dump the travel brochures).
Here's one that we chose from the brochure and went, it's certainly non-touristy and off the main road, was hard to find on GPS even, luckily we did. There are 368 Oreums in Jeju, or volcanic cones/peaks. Abu Oreum is one of the easiest ones and recommended for older folks to hike, about 50m to ascend, which I was glad we did. The best sunset we had seen in Jeju. A short moment to last, a lasting memory etched.
#216 Sunset viewed from Abu Oreum, with a view of Mount Hallasan, the highest mountain in Jeju.
