Thanks for the pointer.

"The transmitter emits radio signal to the receiver when shutter is pressed. The receiver, once picks up the signal, will trigger off the external flash unit. Highest responding time is 1/1000s."

if........your camera can support 1/1000, i tried so many way for canon camera, maximum is 1/250 you still can get 1/320 with small gray line on the top.

only the old 1D support untill 1/500 (using CCD), else might try nikon camera, like D70 it can be triggered up to 1/500

Just rem to get the v2 one tested for 580ex. think it takes between 4 days to 1 week max. Pretty quick.
Anyone buying?

Wanna share shipping cost?

I'm using a Sony R1 in addition to my 400D. :bsmilie: Electronic shutter is a blessing and flash sync goes to 1/2000. D70 actually goes further than that.

A little calculation gives that I can kill the tropical sun with a GN35 (35mm coverage) flash - I'm getting a SB28.

Hazmee,

The Impact one at Ruby is more expensive but I would rec going for that. Other than being able to try it out on the spot, you will be able to get it exchanged or at least talk to them if problems arise.

As for gadgetinfinity, I am quite sure I got mine from them (thru ebay) and their package at that time was a 4 channel receiver with 1 1-channel transmitter and 1 4-channel transmitter. What a bogus package as there was no way a 1-channel will talk to the 4-channel! My emails went unanswered and in the end, I was stuck with a useless 1-channel. Add to the fact that the V2 still looks really the same as the one that I had (I dun know what version is mine), I do have my doubts.

Thus, if you can spend a tad more, Ruby will be a safer bet.

Hi ywh, thanks for sharing your experience. After reading this, I am feeling a little worried about my order with gadgetinfinity. I didn't go through ebay though but bought directly from their website. I read from other sites saying how good they are but as always there's a risk to take. I am still waiting for the goods to arrive and pray hard that its the correct one.

Anyway, the ones at Ruby costs about $100 more and I have to get another PC sync foot mount for my flashes which adds to another $40. Right now, I can't say if its worth going for the savings but I will update once I get the product in hand. Watch this space for updates!

Please share how you do this. Thanks. ;p

Wow. Flash sync at 1/2000s. You can definitely kill the midday sun with 1/2000s.

But are you able to extract full power from the flash when your shutter speed is so fast...?

I'm also wondering if current wireless systems can sync accurately at 1/2000s... the window of opportunity is so tiny, any miscue and the flash would fire either before or after the shutter opens/closes.

My cam does not have an electronic shutter so at 1/800s (triggered by PW) 3/4 of the frame is dark already.

Hi to all,

I finally received my GadgetInfinity Wireless Radio Triggers V2 (4 channels) today. Took them about 4 working days to ship over. Here's my short review of it as promised.

Packaging: The packaging from HK is rather terrible. Just a simple bubble envelop with some flimsy box.

What's inside: 1 transmitter + 3 receiver + 3 CR2 batteries (wrapped in plastic) + Manual + PC sync cord. The manual is in well written English. (Thank God).

Build quality: The trigger and receiver build is rather flimsy and not really well made. But for the price I've paid I can't really complain much. I have problems fitting my flashes into the receiver's hot shoe. It seems very tight to slide it in and getting it out is another problem. I need to force it in but I hope over time of usage it gets much easier.

Operation: No hardware modification necessary. Just plug and play. The receiver has a switch to turn it on but the transmitter doesn't. I did a simple test at home with my setup. 2 580EX + 430EX + 5D. Suprisingly, it works as advertised. However, (yes folks, there is a but) you'll get the occasional misfiring. On the 430EX, it triggers itself randomly every few minutes but not on the 580EX.

In summary:
Total damage to wallet: US$70 (about S$100)
Pros: Affordable and works as promised, lightweight.
Cons: Build quality feels like a last minute school project. Random misfiring. Random triggering on the 430EX.

Would I bring it on an important job? No way and I am not leaving my ST-E2 behind. Who would love this? Cheapo like me and people who love to experiment with lighting.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Any more updates? Gonna order one tonight for my 580EX

I think Hazmee is selling his set of GI transmitter/receivers on B&S.

You might want to PM him for more details.

haha, get PW and life in peace....

Skyport is peaceful enough for me :)

Hazmee,

Go to Ruby Photo at Peninsula Shopping Centre and ask for the Impact radio triggers. Its the 4th generation of radio triggers. The ones that I got from ebay (similar to those sold in CS) are generation one or two. Problems arose with my 580EX and 550EX which flashes randomly. Units used by my SPH friend only exhibited problems after a few months of usage.

The Impact one has no prob as Mr Ho at Ruby has informed me.

how to differ it from gen 4 or previous gen? does it look like this > http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469181-REG/Impact__AC_16_Channel_Radio.html
