Will you buy the New V1 & J1???

With the new 18.5mm/f1.8 - should be good enough for babies and events.

I'm thinking that this lens might be permanently affixed onto my J1!

I have been trying out the 18.5mm/f1.8 lens over the weekend, love it, take nice portraits (with a bit of bokeh), and relatively sharp image even in low light condition. I put to aperture priority and f1.8 for most of my shots. It now sits permanently on my J1

Got the V1 yesterday at the current discount price, given the current discount, is an easy decision. Bought it to keep up with my hyper active boy, my current mirriowless is ... to simply put, constantly being outrun.

Got to test a few shots today. Though i am not big fan of nikon AWB (constantly too much yellow on skin tone). The picture quality and handling is very acceptable.

Below is a shoot i would not have get with my other mirrowless. He was constantly moving left right up down on the step and is a dark cloudy sky..but V1 nailed it, in fact i took 5 shots at the same spot and V1 i nailed everyone of them.

Somehow if I am to buy a mirrorless I would rather go for Olympus m43. Maybe because it looks for fun. I have 2 m43 myself.it is a joy to use.

Yeah fun but in a few situation the Nikon 1's AF is miles ahead. My OMD is collecting dust since I have the V1, m43 just can't compete in terms of speed in usual lighting conditions.

Nope, the OMD and the m43 lenses are still great if I don't need fast and reliable AF. m43 has the much better lens selection.

I bought the V1 dual kit + FT1 back in February and no regrets about it. The MFT may be fine, but the V1 is better, smaller and lighter. In my opinion it is also more fun. The only MFT which might be more fun in some situations is the OMD, but that's just too large, heavy and expensive. It has also some missing features, like the electronic shutter and the high frame rate, speedy AF.

I am pretty sure the OMD is nice, but I would not regard it as an "upgrade". Upgrade is if you'd buy a DSLR. Moving to OMD is just a "side grade" in my opinion. Anyway, the OMD was not available when I bought my kit, but now that I tested the OMD as well, I'd still buy the V1 kit before the OMD and if I wanted an MFT it might not be the OMD at all.

I am toying with the idea of getting the V2, adapter and AF-S 70-200f4 VR for my casual wild nature shots. Will the AF with adapter be just as good? And, if adapted with manual focus lens, any focusing aid like peaking?

No, AF won't be as good at all and there is no peak filter.

With AF lenses the AF is as good as on a DSLR, maybe even more accurate, but only the center AF point is working. I can't help with manual focus lenses since I don't have any. Did you check the manual?
