Just a short comment after trying out the J1 for few days.

I am utterly SURPRISED by the image quality!!!

It is similar to G3 up till iso3200 and beats GF3, EP3 at all iso. And the lenses are tack sharp wide opened!

This should somehow stops all the rant against its smallish sensor.

Will post a more detailed review soon.

Looking forward to your review. Am actually waiting for more reviews after the release of the AFS adaptor and also want to find out how is the manual focusing like if I mount a AFD on this cam with the adaptor.

I tried the V1 at a shop last week and really like it alot. The body feels v solid and AF is very snappy. Like the EVF too, thought it feels better than the A55 and X100 EVF. Got even more poisoned after reading Steve Huff's review on it.. Don't know how long I can hold on. Thinking of getting a pink J1 for my wife and a white V1 for myself..

That's not too bad. Would be great if you can post comparison shots with a GF3. Can the J1 focus with Nikkor AF-D and AF-S lenses? If the IQ is as good as you said and it can focus with Nikkor lenses, I might consider it to replace my GF3.

bought a 7100after i try both v1 and j1,it don't even have a standard nikon hot shoe,no mater how high iso it can go,i need a powerfull external flash and the weight & size of the 10-100mm lens.....;(,i rather bring my d700 with 28-300mm

I think with the adaptor, it can only autofocus with AF-S lenses, AF-D should be manual focus. I could be wrong though...

You're probably right about the AF-D since it's unlikely that the J1 has a body motor. If it can really focus with the AF-S lens and the IQ is good, really can consider.

Ya, Im waiting for the Nikon FT1 adapter to be available and hopefully good reviews on the IQ. If it is good, I will also consider since I can reuse my current Nikon lens...

I like the system but yesterday I noticed the shutter delay of the electronic one. Is it really that slow compared to the mechanical shutter? What are the benefits of the electronic one except that it doesn't make any noise?

Electronic shutter have a fastest shutter speed at 1/16000, while mechanical shutter for V1 stands at 1/4000.

Actually the delay you experienced is not the shutter lag. Its just that there is no way to disable the preview mode (2s) after the shot has been taken.

Electronic shutter as mentioned by the bro above has higher shutter speed, its silent and most importantly there is no shutter life/count to worry about.

I know the electronic shutter speed is faster but I meant the shutter delay. But good to know the preview caused my impression. Wow, I really had the impression the preview shows up faster when shooting with the mechanical shutter. So why the hell is the preview so slow? It's not that slow on any of my cameras.

hi, the sensor is of a size tat the current lenses probably outperforms it.

gd hi iso peRformance up to 3200 is probably the main hightlight for me @ least.

the proof, they say, is in the pudding. so let's do an image quality comparison (image samples from imaging resource).
i have taken the 100% size image crops at iso 3200 from three 10mp cameras; Nikon D3000, Nikon D80 and Nikon J1 (in no particular order)
