maybe that day get annual bonus.... or birthday.. :)

I tend to buy camera on 0201. New year, new cam. I would buy on 0101, but I think public holiday, shop not open?

Also, new year I can start to claim SGD400.00 from gahmen. (MOE gives out between $400-700 every year for us to spend on stuff). :D

Well, I need two bodies for projects. Although my D5D is still working fine, I think it's time to upgrade to another body. A700 seems ok for my needs. Not too interested in the A900 as I have no need for FF.

No, not now. I will wait for the A900 (I hope it will be af FF!)

I have waited several years for a digital replacement for my Minolta 9000 (from 1986) and my nice lenses. So I can wait a couple of month more. I hope I wont get disapointed

ok..juz got back from sony..some info...price of body will be ard a100 when it was first launced,...:) ..w/o grip of course...n 2 more bodies on the way...NEXT YEAR then can noe...:dunno:

I thought the A900 will be launched in Nov? Anyway we know what the 2 new bodies are: the flagship (A900) and the A100 replacement (whatever it is called mayeb A101)...

went to MS color yesterday.... heard a few of sony supported already pre-order the A700 even before knowing the price. ...could it be any of the bro here?

dr34mc4st3r, LordHawke and Seeto. You are are fast man.

Saw today SonyStyle USA posted pre order price of $2100 SGD for the A700.

Dunno why the Singapore SonyStyle website yet to post anything about A700 even though already officially announced worlwide?

I wonder why the US site selling A100 body priced about $150 more. Lots of price differences too, eg the 70-200 G, US site already slashed their price to $3000 whereas here still selling at $4500.

Why liddat, huh? Even their latest press release only up to 4th July 07!

I am indeed very interested in the new A700. Didn't have the interest in digital photography when the 7D first came out (sorry, 35mm snob, still love my 7 best). And what with all the trouble with KM changing hands, I'm not too comfortable plonking down good money for the 5D or 7D. I liked the A100 when it first came out, but the lack of a vertical grip put me off.

Now that I've read the previews for the A700, it looks like a real serious piece of equipment to me, something worth saving up for. Oh the anticipation... ;)

No lah, I almost never preorder stuff. Web reviews are one thing, but gotta see the real thing first mah...:embrass:

Anyway, does anyone have any insider info as to the retail price for the A700 when it reaches our shores?

Hey LordHawke! Where have you been? Good to see you again.

I bought my Alpha 100 on the 1st week when it launched. I thought Sony will give some goodies for early adopters.... I got nothing...

1 month later, they started giving away the GPS module and then the photo player. So, this time round, I will wait.

BTW, if you are interested in buying prime lens and you happened to be in HK, you could easily see a 20-30% difference in pricing as that in Singapore. And they have plenty of stocks.

Looking after kid and busy with work.

Someone *finally* took my old 600si off my hands recently, so now starting to be "ngian" again. Browsing here and there, then saw the A700 preview on dpreview. Suddenly realised how backward my news is on Sony/KM stuff! :o

Anyway, will look out for the next KM meetup and see if I can make some time for it...

I happen to be going to HK quite often these days due to my project. Where's a good place to buy lenses in HK, ah?

Check out Man Shing or Wing Shing (both same co). They are located at MongKok. You dont need to bargain. Price very attractive. I just bought my 70-200 G lens from them. You will be surprised that the used price in Singapore are more than their new lens pricing. 8 (. Interstingly the shops are about less than 800m away from each other, x2 Wing Shing and 1 Man Shing. They are at Sai Yeung Choi St, Tung Choi St and Fa Yuen St (near women's bazaar market).

Only thing is the warranty - CHina/HK. I dont really care, cos the probability of getting a failed lens is closed to zero. At least from my experience.... keeping my finger crossed, though.

Hi actually you can goto the Sony customer service centre which is located in the building just beside Wing Shing store. You can get it transferred into Singapore warranty. Can ask the shop salespeople for direction.

But i must say the price there is cheaper than in singapore. But strangely the 56 flash is about the same (as in singapore) when i was there recently :dunno:

If anyone is interested in an A100 body with 2 batts, dual-batt charger and some other stuff, keep an eye on he marketplace soon. ;)

A700! Looks fantastic. :D

Ooh now I'm REALLY interested. How much did you get the 70-200 for? ;)
