Why is Canon so quiet?

Maybe pending announcement of medium format Canon DSLR. It is not a new idea. Decades ago Canon got Colani to design the shape and form for a medium format (film) prototype.

The size just looks perfect for a 1 series body... hmm :P

A friend was invited and sworn to secrecy by a manufacturer (not necessarily Canon) to use and test a prototype.
Apparently it has a HUGE megapixel specification.

Camera looks like a 100d type of mini dslr shape. Please dont tell me this is a white version of the eos100d... Still hoping for canon's answer to the mirroless fullframe... with the dual pixel af tech.

the last time canon did something like this was for the 5d mark 2. Hope this teaser is worth the wait and effort.

Hmmm... interesting... right from the Canon-Korea site. It didn't take long for CR to pick up on it...

Canon Rumours Teaser

Looks like a new DSLR is on the way. Don't suppose it could be the 40+mp model?

Canon usually doesn't use teasing tactics unless its a huge announcement.

Canon 75D :o A7/A7R killer...
Maybe Canon listen to the joke as an input, promote it as company direction, and try to pursue it...

do we really need a better camera? after Using the 5D3 since it's launch, I have never had any desire of upgrading. What else do you really need to produce a great photo?

Human nature is to seek better.
Not so long ago in November 2001, Canon 1D had a 4.48 MP sensor. It was considered the high end top model then.
Maybe some users then would have expressed, why would they need any camera with more than 4.48MP - there is no need to upgrade.

Ha ha, it seems like the only way for a Canon fan to be happy nowadays is not to expect anything more from Canon. Since you are already getting your pictures why would you need anything better?

Apparently your friend can't keep a secret, and neither could you

From the shape of the body.... Pay attention to the right side... It's slope downwards looks more like a PRO model.
1 series type of design. There isn't a dial.

the VF prism area or where the flash is looks like an entry level model though, not much height for a full frame or a large electronic VF. no mode dial on the right side either

looks pretty much inline with this shape to me. a white 100D :(

"Canon Korea has put up a teaser page for a new camera release. Showing a camera covered in a white sheet, the teaser text reads, "November 2013, Canon will start from the white world. Coming soon," according to a Google translation of the site dicahub.com. While some rumors contemplate an EOS M2 or pro camera, application of a few simple Photoshop tweaks, as dicahub did, reveals a few details that make the camera look an awful lot like a white SL1 with a 40mm STM lens attached."

maybe a Christmas Edition of some camera :bsmilie:

don't think that's the EOS 100D. the size doesn't fit

Maybe, they put an APS-C sensor into a 1D body and give the camera 10fps + 61AF points and tell the world it is the first dedicated APS-C sports camera with the 1D weather sealing capability and sell it for 4k, because it was a professional grade camera.

While the whole world is going for smaller camera body, we the Canon people take the opposite road and go on a big body to tell people we are more professional.
