Why do you stick to Sony DSLR?

2) The option to own CZ lens- they are expensive, they are to die for

But where are the fast CZ primes Carl Zeiss is more famous for? :dunno: Sony's system would be more attractive if they trot out the fast Carl Zeiss primes like the old Contax/Yashica 50mm/f1.4 etc. The 85/f1.4 is a great step, but they need to work faster.

I like the LV especially combined with an articulated LCD. The only reasons to leave for me are their outdated AF modules, their aging FF models and the lack of primes with fast AF and permanent MF override.

The camera can do what I need it to do, no reason to change, also I have those legacy Minolta lens. If change to another brand, incur high cost to do basically the same thing, pointless.

Yeah and the AF is horrible. I don't see the point of the SLT models if they don't even have enough AF points to track objects.

u comparing them with what models from other brand? You dun expect to get tons of AF points for your professional needs by paying $1000 plus abit, do u?

No. Not sure where you read that. I just said why I don't like them, I'm not comparing anything. I don't need to compare them to notice the currently offered packages are broken by design. As I said before I think the SLT design is pointless if it doesn't come with a good AF module.

I switch to Sony becoz of the DSLT AF speed and LV comparing it with my Oly E620 it was a huge improvement even to the number of AF point 15 vs 7 but Oly wins by having 5 cross type AF point while A33/A55 has 3. But the AF speed is a huge difference. The only complain I have with A33 is a bit smallish and no true battery grip :( but so far I am liking it. Hoping to see the next DSLT outing

Interesting, when you consider that my AF tracks F1 cars just fine. :p

The A55 is an advanced Entry level DSLR / DSLT, dont compare the A55 with Canon and Nikon pro level DSLRs like 1D mk 4 or D3s. Those are pro spec cameras, its not surprising that they have more AF points, and comes with a BIG price tag as well.

Lets compare A55 with advanced entry level DSLR of Canon and Nikon instead:

Nikon D5100: 11 AF points (1 cross type) with a burst mode of 4FPS

Canon 600D: 9 AF points (1 cross type) with a burst mode of 3.7 FPS

Sony A55: 15 AF points (3 cross type) with a burst mode of 10 FPS

So if 15 AF point (with 3 cross type even) is considered not enough for you, maybe u will like to point out to us, which entry level DSLR from Canon or Nikon has more AF points than the A55?

Good enough for F1, but still quite far as compare to Nikon or cannon high end model AF tracking.

Are you sure u r comparing the right cameras?

I think he was talking about high end model. Entry level, sony did quite well.

Agreed.. i'm using spot AF anyway.. the current points work for me..

I did a comparison of entry-level models and i cant help but notice the AF points sony gave..

oh my.. its ok if you tink so. Stay away from it.

You said it yourself... "HIGH END MODEL". You are comparing an entry-level camera to the Nikon and Canon high-end models - that only shows insecurity. Compare apples to apples. Come, you can say the same thing about the D5100 and the 600D... "Quite far from the high-end models!".

Don't misunderstand me, i'm not comparing the compare D3 / 1DS M3 with A55. I'm telling that Sony do not have good AF tracking system for now.

and the next question would be:

on what basis do you make this claim. for your claim to be substantiated, it would have to have some form of comparison and tests have to be done.
