I went for Sony because i dont like to follow the crowd. Be unique and i got faith in Sony products and tech.
When i was considering getting a DSLR, i did abit of research. Sure, Sony is a newbie in DSLR at that time, but i know they will grow fast, plus they got Minolta tech. Their cams has many more features than other brands, comparing similiar model to model. more user friendly, i must say. I don't care much about the range of lens that you can buy. How many lens can we buy as a hobbyist? Even IF i ever turn professional, Sony lens are more than enough.
Last time when i engaged a professional photographer for studio and outdoor wedding shots (that was in 2004), he was using Fujifilm DSLR, not even C or N. And he's a very established professional photographer in the industry, not a newbie at all. I asked him, why Fujifilm? Why not C or N? he explained the features and usability of Fujifilm, and i realised C or N is not the world after all.
During my wedding, i also engaged another professional photographer, who was using C DSLR, to shoot my day time and dinner. He produced the photos out for me, i took a look at them, and i compared them to the guy who was using Fujifilm DSLR. Oh man..... its 2 worlds apart. The fujifilm photos beat C photos anytime..... The colours are so different. The C one, cannot make it lah... the colours are so dull.....
I dont know if Fujifilm is still selling DSLR or not.
In fact, now in my current work, we engaged professional photographer who happen to use Fujifilm DSLR. I was again curious and asked him why use Fujifilm? He also explained the same thing as my wedding photographer.
So, my question is why these people are not using C or N?
I just took a leap of faith and bought A330 at that time. I never regret it.... each time i stand next to a guy using other brands, i look at how they use the cam... sigh, waste time......
At that time when i was buying the sony cam, if i had done abit more research, i would have gotten Pentax.... another under-rated brand, that people tend to forget.
Of coz A330 has its own limits, because its only an entry level model, but this entry level model already can beat other entry level models of other brands. What it can do, other entry level models cannot do. What other entry level models can do, A330can do even better.
If i ever upgrade, its gonna to be Sony again, for sure.
