I was hoping it would be at f2.8 constant..and internal zoom:(

i dun mind f4 cos that would save on the weight and size... but it's too expensive now :(

Wait abit longer just like 5D, from 6700 drop to 5500! might be even lower now!

i'm not too sure if the prices of lenses will drop that much...especially L-glasses..

Getting my friend in JPN to get a piece, "hopefully" at JPY115,700 or lower after Tax Rebate.;)

Was hoping that it is true but from the looks of it, it looks like a mistake.

Interesting that if you go to the EF Lens lines up the menu option of product->consumer->cameras->digital (http://www.canon.com.sg/index.cfm?fuseaction=digitalcamera&prod_type=lenses#), the 24-105L is not listed. Does this mean that Canon Singapore only recommends this lens for film bodies? :dunno:

Price of bodies will drop but no lenses especially L lenses.

went John 3:16 today. Price is $2130.

I realise that this lens has macro function as well. But not really sure how good is this macro thingy, as I din really try it out.

eehh? No stock? Just sent a couple back no long ago.

Yah. Until next year....:dunno:

Saw 3 pieces of this beautiful L glass at MS Color yesterday afternoon.
All got tags (ie probably already reserved and waiting for collection). Florence quoted $2100 or thereabouts.
Asked if I can just hold lenses in my hands for a while - Wah the feeling damn shiok.
Feeling placing order liao.

Got a copy of this lens recently. Did a general test on this lens and found the IS to be extremely useful in low light environment, especially during concerts such as this children concert:

I was shooting on aperture priority mode with ISO 400 on my faithful EOS 1D and holding the lens at 1/30 sec at the 70mm zoom range. Kinda happy with the results but did a comparison with the 24-70 f/2.8L, I still prefer the 24-70f/2.8L's color and sharpness (but honestly, this is rather subjective to the preference of individual photographer).

One more plus factor of the 24-105 f/4L is the weight, especially if you are running around covering a huge event (like the one I did for my church's G12 International conference - 3days with a 1series body, 24-70mm and the rest of the gear is really no joke).

Is this lens price worthy at the currently price point? I would say it is rather steep. I think a price point of 1.8K would be rather reasonable. Spoke to some friends in the retail business, they have indicated that it is very unlikely price to reach that level since it is a L lens category. Though dropping to 2.1k might still be possible.

Just sharing. God bless,

Daniel
