pardon me but what do u use ur equipment 4? Ain't these just toys for creating images??:dunno: buying a new toy will of course make u feel good psychologically but u will still end up with just another toy, not an image. But if u tell me these toys r limiting ur creatvity then it's a different story loh.

Or u could donate to charity. can also use this money to adopt some african kids.

You can see there's no upgrade needed, right? 24-105L on 350D or 30D will be 1.6X crop as well, you're better off with your 17-85 which gives you standard range plus alittle more reach and IS. And 10-22 is a very sharp and contrasty ultra-wide lens, better than any third party out there. This 2 lenses are keepers until you upgrade to 1.3X or FF cams.

Which 70-300mm are you using? Maybe can get the 70-300mm IS from Canon.

Or treat us, those who contributed to your thread, a meal lah....ha ha

Mainly travel.. Sometimes weddings and potraits, but not professionally..

Yeap, it's mainly the psychological itch, not because the equipment is limiting :bsmilie: The only thing I find limiting is the f-stop of the lens I have, sometimes difficult to take shots in low light situation with the lens I have.. Maybe I should consider 1 or 2 3rd party f/2.8 lens instead

Wah! you got all the best you can get for a EF-S system liao....then maybe buy a 580EX for low-light situation plus a Lightsphere PJ. About $600-700 plus $88.;)

Oh.. I also have 430EX + Omnibounce.. Forgot to mention, but upgrading the flash was never a consideration :) My set is pretty complete, just itchy that's all :bsmilie: Maybe I should ask someone scratch for me and forget about it :)

Any opinions about the Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8? Don't see much talk about this lens..

I'm pretty sure the equipment is good enough for a general photographer like me, but just feel the bug leh :) Personally, I'm more tempted to upgrade to the 30D as the 24mm wide isn't too useful in many situations on a 1.6x crop cam imho.. and I still get to use all my existing lens..
Eh.... 30D sensor size is still the same as ur 350D? U already have a 10-22 which is quite wide at 16-35, ur 17-85 is at 27-136 and ur 70-300 is like 112-480?

If u want to look at upgrade, I'd personally recommend u set aside the $1K for a EOS 5D fund alongside a 24-105 and a 17-40.

But that's me, since I'd like to upgrade my camera with a bigger sensor and not just a bells & whistles upgrade thing. :)

Use the $1K to go to

1. Hanoi
2. Chiangmai
3. Java

Should be more than enough. :)

I tried it, so-so only lah...the canon one better.

Or pay me $1k, I scratch your back and hire a pro to massage for you 5 times. ha ha

Add a couple of primes to your kit. The 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 will be $1200 combined (new with warranty). Both will be great for portraits and weddings and the 50 in particular makes a great walk around lens on a 1.6x, especially with it's low light capabilities.

Yeap.. Considered the 5D + 24-105L path.. But knowing me, the money in the meantime would've been spent on something else :bsmilie:

Went Ho Chi Minh last month, going Hong Kong next month.. Going US for 2 weeks end of the year.. No more leave liao

 Maybe sell the 70-300mm get a 70-200L f/2.8 + 2x TC? But the 70-200L f/2.8 might break my back when I bring it on holidays :bsmilie:

I personally find primes troublesome because I mainly use my cam for travelling.. Can't be carrying so many primes and zooms around :) But I might get a 50mm f1.8 since it's relatively cheap..

Stick to your 70-300IS, its very good and light enough for travelling.

Hmm.. So if I do that, will need to look for an alternative f/2.8 tele lens..

Any idea what's the diff. between the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 Macro and without Macro? In terms of picture quality any diff?

ha ha ha, you die die want to spend your 1k away....:bsmilie:

Sigma's 70-200mm is pretty good. there's not much diff between the macro or non-macro versions. but your lens range will overlap lor.

But you'll find that you'll bring the 75-300mm out more than 70-200mm because of the weight.

:bsmilie: Trying very hard to save it lah, don't say until like that :bsmilie: Progress package coming mah.. So got spare cash..

 But I can use the 70-200mm f/2.8 for local weddings, concerts.. Those low light conditions, which the 70-300mm doesn't fare very well in :)

My wedding experience tells me I dun need 70-200mm unless the couple's house is damn big lor. The only time I used it on wedding was in a church wedding. Nowadays, I dun bring the lens to wedding unless I'm inform there's going to be an open area or large indoor event.

24-70 f2.8 or 28-70 f2.8 is a better choice. Or use a prime like 50 f1.8 or 85 f1.8 for such situation. I normally use 50mm when I was using 20D, now I use mostly 85mm with my 5D. Nice bokeh compared to f2.8

Keep your money for now..

Sell your 17-85 and buy the 17-55 f2.8 when out
