anyway, both 16-105 and the expensive cz 16-80 is beyond my pockets for the next few months. :bsmilie:
used to be using the sal 18-70 as my walkabout lens but then recently developed some problem with the focusing as the focus ring seems stuck at 1 angle and giving a huge buzzing noise when turn on with cam body AF.

The 28-105 is pretty cheap, but 28mm is not wide enough for landscape, or for group photo shots, on an aps-c sensor. I would suggest having a 18-70 over this.
Don bother repairing. U can buy a 2nd hand one for less than $80.

I've owned a tammy 17- 50, minolta 28-80, Sony 16-105, Sony 18-250 as my walkabout lens. 18-250 being my current. Love its range and speed and sharpness.
I was surprised at the af speed given such a wide range, but it is fast.
Luv the bokeh, brightness and sharpness on Tammy, get 'sure nice' kind of pictures. but after a while it seemed to restrict my creativity... haha. I sold it and got a 50mm 1.8 for my portrait lens instead.
I got 16-105 and 18-250 at the same time to do a comparison (both having very good reviews) and after some obvious results, i sold the 16-105. the 18-250 has faster aperture throughout the same range ( i.e 18-105), and its sharper. the only advantage that 16-105 has - is that extra 2mm wide range. but at that range, image is relatively soft, so that killed the only advantage it has. (though there may be some sample variations, and i may have had a bad copy.)
After all the hunting, I am now a happy photog with my 18-250..
