DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6 ?

Either 55-200 or 75-300 if you really need to use the voucher. if not, just keep it since you don't really know what the differences are. no offense intended by the way.

24-105 mm VS 16-105.
which do you guys think is better? not in terms of the wide angle of course. but the image quality and price?
wanting to upgrade from my kit lens.

I think the 24105 is more for FF, something like a 'kit lens' for FF. While 16105 is a step up from kit lens for cropped sensors.

I was told that both SAL75300 (F4.5-5.6) and SAL18250 (F3.5-6.3) have too high value for aperture, thus not easy to be used and hard to get nice photos under low light conditions. Is this true? Does anyone has any experience with any of these?

You can up ur ISO to solve the low light issue, but of course, that would mean that there would be more noise. I have used the 55-200mm before. Yes, at night or low light, the shutter speed will be very slow if I set the iso at 100. but it's still possible to get nice photos.

When you say at night, shutter speed will be very slow, does that means that at high zoom or at any zoom level? In addition, if I use a tripod with iso 200 in the night, does that help?

How about using 250mm in broad daylight handheld? Will I get clear photos all the time or blurry all the time?

Tripod is a must for night photography otherwise our hands may not be stable enough to give you sharp pictures.

If you are using the 18-250mm in day time or when there is sufficient light, it's possible to get sharp pictures. In fact a lot of user of this lens are very happy with the lens.

You see ah, the biggest aperture of the 75-300mm lens right, is only f/4.5 (at 75mm) and f/5.6 at 300mm. So the shutter speed will be pretty slow throughout the focal length. Use tripod of course can lah, but provided you are shooting still things, not moving things.

Tehzeh, thanks, it makes sense now. Guess it won't allow me to take fireworks at nite. What about in the day with good sunshine, can I get good photo without tripod at 300mm, f5.6? Sorry for asking the obvious, but I just want to make sure that I understand it before getting it. But at this moment, I am considering the Tamron 70-300 F4-5.6, which is even cheaper... ;p

Galdor, thanks for the info. Do you know of any Tamron or Sigma that is 18-250 that is cheaper than the Sony's lens?

Heard that the Tamron is cheaper but the Sony is sharper. But these are hearsays only cos I do not usually use lenses with such great zoom range.

Yeah, you can take a sunshine with this lens. I took many sunshine shots with my 18-55mm. Because, for sunshine, you don't really need a large aperture. but sunshine, why 300mm?

He want to zoom in on the sun =x
