1.2 tons ??? what are u carrying ? telescopes capable of seeing the nebula galaxy? :o

hahaha....i agree that tripod is very important..i am a beginning. but i realize that .after read this tread...am thinking to get some decent yet affordable tripod....

can anyone Pro there can recommend a decent tripod which is lightweight for D90??? let say my budget is 100-150.

currently own a nikon tripod...not so satisfied with it particular on its head part. probably the camera itself abit heavy, once i fix camera on it..it doesn't truly horizontal. it slightly slant abit. have to tighten the wheel to make it horizontal with some adjustment...feel sad bout it since it is new!! T-T

thx!

I read the threads, hmmm even a tripod requires so many considerations.
So chim ... :dunno:
Think I'm gonna have a tough time with this hobby ....
Not really, when you have the cash to burn...no need to think so much.

for me, have to see the tradeoffs for the specs i want so a lot of research was needed. I needed a cheap tripod yet sturdy and solid so the Slik U212 was it imo.
Its been about a week of usage but from the looks of it, most likely can be handed down to my kids in future. Not a bad way to spend $145. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450021

Depends if in future your system will grow and you need a more sturdy tripod. from the issue at hand..should be the head not firm enough. Should look at variety of tripod heads to see which one suits you and your budget best. Most of the time, light and solid tripod will not be cheap.

For ur budget and setup, consider a fancier or a benro A350EX with B0 ballhead.
A350EX 4 sections, max ht 1350, min ht 325, folded 430, weight 1.1kg, max load 4KG. quick release clips and spring hook for hanging bag in ctr column.

just sold mine 190XPROB + 486RC2 ... nice. but heavy to travel with it..

Get a Gitzo and you will never look back... Yes, Manfrottos feels cheap...

I'm using 055CX3 with 488RC4, not too heavy

I kinda like the Fancier FT6662A tripod.. At the price of S$88, I think it's really a good buy.

Anyone can recommend a stable tripod for a 40D?
Budget: $50-$100 plus

Manfrotto 190xPro is not a best, but I use it!

Benro is good. A300EX is longer at fold, but suppose to be a bit more sturdy with 3 sections.
Suprisingly (at least to me), Canon training room using Benro tripods.

Go Benro show room and try out with your gear, should able get one around $90, but I would recommend you spend a bit more get the A300 or A350EX...
