how much does 190Pro cost? including ballhead?

Need your advice please? Is this a good price? :)

I was at CP yesterday. The guy quoted me a Gitzo MK2 $610 :o without ball-head. The ball-head he recommended me is a China-made brand at $575, it comes with a plate.

Thanks.

The China made brand is KangRinPonche. The model which cost $575 is NB2-A.

Pardon me for asking a very basic question.

I have a tripod bought about 10 years ago. Used it with my Sony and Sharp viewcams. Now trying to use it with my Canon camera but realised that there is an extra protruding spring-loaded metal stub about 1 cm away from the screw. In my viewcams, there is an extra hole where this protruding metal stub sits comfortable. But I find that my Canon camera has no such hole.

As this stub is spring loaded, I can actually tape it down. But still there is pressure exerted on the camera body and I don't want the camera to be scratched. Should I file this metal stub off? If not, what is the proper way to use it?

Benro provide much more affordable products. No losing out to the famous brands like Gitzo, Manforroto in terms of quality and funtionalities. More details refer to www.benro.cn or thread below

Two professional photographers recommended I use 'really right stuff' to import a BH40 LR Ball Head and then choose a tripod that was within my budget!

I was quite impressed that they'd both come to the same conclusion independently.

In the end I also went with a Gitzo (expensive - but I'm worth it!).

 Good news!
 Manfrotto will return to spore in end of July or early August.
according to cathay photo....

i voted Manfrotto 190PROB because the weight is still ideal for travel (actually still quite heavy but of course lighter than 055 PROB) with solid build.

Was at Cathay earlier today, they have Manfrotto 190 and the 486 ballhead, but price is very ex, something like $322 for the set with tripod strap. The reason given was that this batch was air freight. Normal shipment should be in a few weeks time.

so will be easy.....

Anyone planning to get the new 190CX Pro 3?

So what is the kind of budget that a newbie should be getting? how much and preferably the kind of model.

All depends lah... if you buy a cheap and crappy one which can barely hold your camera and kit lens, then if you buy heavier/longer/better lenses, you may need to upgrade tripod too. I bought a Gitzo tripod with markins ballhead long time back until i cannot even remember the model number... Today it is still working fine with my current collection of lenses.

sorry to hijack this thread.

but my ht is 180. i am afraid that manfrotto 190PROB might be too short for me

any other recommendation? budget wise is around $170 and below.

ball head wise, any recommendation. budget around $50 or below.

don mind if its second hand. i am using 400D with kit lens. hopefully the weight of the tripod is within 2.3kg and below
